NL10 - AKo - preflop fold ok?

I know the villain for 38 hands. That is not much. He has played ~33% of his hands so far, raising ~18%. I have never seen him 4-bet. He is playing 2 tables at the time. In case he is watching - I havenīt done anything special before the flop, neither light raising nor expensive laydowns. Just by incident, I have been folding on the flop more than average, but only for small pots.
Is it +EV to proceed here, and if so, how?
Or can I lay the hand down here?

Thanks for all comments!

i don't think folding is wrong, but i'd call this and then decide on the flop.

I like a fold. You are OOP and he's 4-bet you. At this level you'll sometimes see shoves with other hands, but I think it's rare to see a non-shove 4-bet without it being AA or KK.

Yes, you could call, but say an A flops (or even a K for that matter), what will you do? Pot control is difficult OOP. Are you really going to be willing to felt your hand if you hit, knowing that villain possibly now has you crushed with a set? I'm not...

i'd just shove it against an unknown at this level.

I see no sarcasm smiley, so I'll just ask ...
What do you put your opponent on, where you would be ahead? I've seen many AI at NL10 and some even at NL25 with hands like 99+, some lower PP but rarely, AK, AQ, AJs, AXs ... but the only hands, where you'd clearly be ahead would be AQ, AJ, AXs. Against the others you'd either be behind or playing the bad end of a coinflip for possibly your whole stack.
I don't think the very, very rare instances, where somebody would play garbage or low connectors that aggressivly will make up for that.

I think the only +EV choice here is folding. If he has QQ/KK you wont get much action if you hit an ace so calling 1/3 buy-in with AKo here is bad. If he has AA and flop comes K high, you will double his stack. He probably has KK or AA more often than QQ or JJ. Even shoving is better than calling imo, but I would definitely fold and wait for a better spot to make money.

Points to remember:
- villain hasnt 4-bet before
- NL10 is a passive game
- youre behind his range even if he has QQ or smaller pp this time

I'd fold here and wait for a read that says he'd 4bet preflop without AA or KK. Even at NL10, 4betting preflop rarely means QQ, AK, or AQ...it's usually the big'uns.

I'd agree with RapidEvolution & chopsticks here. In my experiance at NL10 a 4bet usually means AA/KK and the above analysis I think's good. Personally I dont like playing AK OOP especially in a big pot so I'd fold and wait for another hand.
