Who are your top 10 college football teams -- OFFICIAL early rankings

I read a thread about college football, which I have a PASSION for, and it got my blood flowing. We are only about 5 weeks away! So, who are your top 10 college football teams to start the season? I know it's a bit early, but who do you think?

Ranking is simple: who do you think is the best team, top to bottom? Try to be objective. For example, it hurts to put LSU above Aurburn, but I do.

Here are mine:

1) tOSU
2) USC
3) Texas
4) Auburn
5) Notre Dame
6) LSU A&M
7) Oklahoma
8) Tennessee
9) Florida
10) West Virginia

Agreed, College football [censored] rocks. Maybe we should give some reasons why we think x team is ranked x.

Preseason rankings I think:

1)OSU (Ohio State)- Ted Ginn/Troy Smith lead an explosive offense although defense loses many starters.

2)USC- new QB issues, but trojans are loaded in recievers (Jarett/smith) , OL, and LB core.

3)Texas- New QB issues but UT still has a well balanced team + great coaching staff (and good recruiting in '05).

4)Notre Dame- Quinn/Walker/Samarjadza or however the [censored] you spell it leads a good offense. Defense has some issues though (last year they gave up something like 600 yards to OSU in the bowl game).

5)Florida- I'm pretty biased as I'm a huge FL fan. Leak + excellent recievers in caldwell/baker/new freshman percy harvin + a sweet D line make UF SEC contenders.

6) Auburn- Cox/Irons brothers/great wide recievers + O line help alot.

7)Oklahoma- Sooners won much of the second half of the season. Peterson/Bomar + sweet defense will return, along with good coaching staff in stoops.

8)WVU- Cant remember his name (QB) and tailback combined for 4th in rushing last season. Not ranked higher because the big east (with the exception of louisville) isn't very strong.

9)LSU- Jemarcus russell + excellent recievers help tigers in SEC race (4 teams in contention IMO- Georgia/FL/Auburn/LSU)

10)up for grabs IMO. Here we have a clusterfck of teams including PSU/Tenn/Mich/Georgia/Cal/etc.

I don't think UGA will be that strong this year.

Good point.

1) tOSU -- Ginn and are both Heisman contenders. They will kick mucho ass on offense and have a strong Big 10 quality defense. They are my NC favs.

2) USC -- Recruiting machine. Booty will be solid at QB at the least, and COULD be spectacular. Talent, speed. Class of the Pac10.

3) Texas -- just like USC: loads of talent. Great defensive line.

4) Auburn -- Kenny Irons. Heisman darkhorse. Great defense. Well coached.

5) Notre Dame -- Brady Quinn = Heisman favorite. Offense may even be better that OSU's. Solid everywhere, superb coaching.

6) LSU A&M -- JaMarcus Russell is the most underrated QB in the country. He could have a season that will establish him as a legit Heisman contender in 07, if only his super fast recievers could catch the damn ball! Defense is more than solid.

7) Oklahoma -- Loads of talent, Peterson at RB, great D-line.

8) Tennessee -- Could be a breakout year for Ainge. The speed on this team is insane.

9) Florida -- Chris Leak is scary talented, and if Meyer can back off on forcing a square peg in a round hole with the spread option he could win the Heisman.

10) West Virginia -- soph QB is really really telented. Very explosive and athletic.

I almost put Michigan instead of West Virginia. Because they are Michigan.

We (Michigan) will either be 11-1 and playing in a BCs bowl or 8-4 and playing for the Toilet Bowl. My guess is the latter since we have a pretty tough road schedule (at ND, at PSU and at OSU). If everyone stays healthy (read Mike Hart), we could be decent.

Preseason polls are stupid, and I'm far too biased (and excited as hell about this year.) That said, I will post a ton about this type of stuff after I have seen a few games played.

Anyone interested in pooling money for a pick'em league?

I live in the Southeast and have my entire life, so of course i'm a huge SEC freak, so I can give my best preseason ranking of the conference (I agree preseason polls are retarded btw)

Firstly LSU will be substantially better than Auburn next year. Putting Auburn in the top 5 is ridiculous. They are at best 10 in a top 10 poll (if I were making a top 25 I'd have them around 15 actually). They whooped up on some cream puffs last year and did not look particularly great against good opponents. They either lost to or barely beat anyone decent on their schedule, not exactly top 5 domination. (South Carolina hadn't come "around" when they played AU)

As others have noted UGA will have a very off year as opposed to their last 4-5 seaons. UT of course is a big question mark and they sucked it up so oddly last year nobody really is predicting them to do much. FLorida and S.C. was coming on strong last year so they look to be good east bets.

So while I won't speak nationally I'll give my SEC rankings

West

1. LSU
2. Auburn
3. Alabama
4. Arkansas
5. Ole Miss
6. Mississippi State

East

1. Florida
2. South Carolina
3. Georgia
4. Tennessee
5. Vandy
6. Kentucky

Also, can I assume that all of you degenerates gamble on this? Nothing better than waking up Sat. morning, doing some line shopping, and betting on like 15 games that can all be found on TV or the internet. Gives me chills.
