why is the flop raise so horrible again? is it because it gets better hands the fold and exposes us to a 3 bet which combined with other hands that crushes us, makes us puke? if he comes over the top of our raise, we're faced with a bad decision in what he just me a coinflip or worse situation?

but, if he just calls our raise with 68 or 99... then we gain from the raise correct?
is the flop raise so horrible here?

his flop raise will induce a lotta [censored] from combo hands because his flop raise was so small. then again it lets u get owned by 2 pair and set/striaght hands... now that i am on an actual comp the way dj played it isnt toooooo bad because like he donkraised the flop so small that villian can play back with a wider range.

cliff notes: it puts u in a [censored] spot that is the bad part.

if the guy donks a wide range, raising is good because it A) gets value and B) takes iniative. If we are just flatcalling here, what are we doing on a turn that is a:
9,8,7,6,5,4,A
and he pots.

i dont really expect people to donk sets here, and thats fine if they do. they'll only stack me by donking if they'd probably have stacked me anyhow. his bet-3betting range here is totally behind my hand, so i'm happy to raise it up. plus, what baluga said. calling leads to mystery zone on lots of turn cards, and i'd much rather play a big pot now when i know i'm in pretty good shape than play a big pot after the turn when i cant be so sure.

I think calling almost makes your hand look stronger because it shows your hand prob has decent showdown value but you're trying to exercise pot control. I rarely see an utg player call a leadout on a flop bet with AK, but I often see him raise a flop lead with AK (im not sure if this really makes sense, it does to me though). Plus if you're not raising here at least sometimes then no one will ever believe you when you make this play with 2 overcards. Somtimes you will run into a set or whacky 2 pair but thats where reads become the defining point in the hand. I think theres many reasons to be raising this flop, just not all the time. ill stop rambling now....
