10/25 live: weird betting from a greek guy

10/25, Casino Niagara, post-bachelor party so I'm somewhat drunk and kinda tired. Full trip report later.

Villain in this hand is a Greek guy who's having a good time. He seems to know a lot of the people at the table. Pretty loose, aggressive in position, not a bad player from what I've seen so far. Not given to underbetting, plays for pot control with medium made hands, etc. I've got what is probably a weak/tight image; a couple times I've bet preflop and led one or two streets and folded to a raise.

We're both deep in this hand, I think he's got 7k and I cover.

OK. One limper and I pop it to $125 with my A[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] Q[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]. The Greek calls on the button, he's my only customer.

Flop:

A[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]T[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]8[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]

I confirm with the dealer that there are two of us, and then I say "$200 for the two of us." Greek guy calls fast.

Turn:

8[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]

I check for variety's sake. Greek leads out for a massive $200. I am a bit weirded out by the bet size, but I call immediately.

Turn:

2[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]

I... check? He... bets $200? I...?

At this point I am definitely in WTF land with his bet sizes. He hasn't done anything like that tonight, and I don't think that's how he'd play a bad ace (one big bet then check behind, or check then throw out a reasonable bet.). There's obviously a message to me here if I can read it, and at this point in the night I can't.

During this hand I felt like all the lovely ladies I was hanging out with earlier had somehow influenced my thoughts, i.e. I played it like a girl.

I would have bet bet like 750 on river instead of checking, as played, c/r to 800 or so I guess.

(Pot is like 1100 on river.)

If he never has a bad ace here, well then obviously this idea is thwarted, but I think he can have that and that it is likely.

This might actually be something like KK/QQ/JJ though if he would only call pre w/ the first two enough.

Ya, I'd just bet 500 on river and fold to a raise.

If you think he'll bluff-raise a decent amount if you block the river, I have no problem with a check-call here. He doesn't think you have an A here.

wouldn't he do this with bad ace if he puts you on something like QQ?

Could be, though I haven't seen him make this kind of milking bet so far.

With a bad ace would he pay off a check/raise though?

he might feel that hes splitting with a lot of better aces.

Obviously you played this hand in a nonstandard fashion but given the weird underbet on the river I would just call expecting to pick up the pot very often. I do not think that he would pay off a check raise with most of his holdings but he sure will when he has you beat.

I dont think a little aces up with 10 kicker will think that he has a chance after a check raise

i call, he tables ak, i say something and sound surprised, he clues into the fact that i had aq and grumbles a little to himself.

just a weird hand.
