House-backed players in the WSOP, would you play them ?

Imagine that Harrahs' decided to enter House-backed players into the WSOP events, would you play ?

(By House-backed, I mean that Harrahs would get a cut of their winnings. I am not saying this is permitted under Nevada gaming rules, this is hypothetical.)

Would it make any difference to you if the tournament were instead an online one, run by someone like FTP, in which the House backed FTP pros ?

What about cash games play ?

(I think either instance would be unethical, more so if undisclosed.)

Why would you think its unethical?

Think of it like what Barry Greenstein does. He doesn't need the money he wins in tournaments, so he simply gives it away. What if we didn't know what he did with it, we just knew he did not keep it?

Also, how would it be any different then staking in general? Harrahs runs the risk of losing their stake completely, but they also are going to own a percentage of that stake on the return. What if it was just the CEO of Harrahs that did the staking and not the corporate entity?

This question is a bit redundant because if the answer was 'No' then Harrah's wouldn't enter 'house-backed players'.

If Harrah's did as good a job hiring players as they do hiring dealers, I'd play every event.

If the same entity that deals the cards, employs the tournament director and ALSO has a stake in the outcome and DOESN'T disclose it, that would be unethical.

You think that your personal decision would stop Harrahs' from doing that ?

What about FTP ? Do you know if the House gets a cut of tournament or cash game winnings from their House Pros ?

Nope, wouldn't care. If they added a bounty that would be cool!

Buwhahahahaha!

i really want to insult you for what you have written in there, but it would make me feel really guilty. sort of like shoving a handicapped kid to the floor in the mall or something just to watch him cry.

Why ?

Do you know ? How ? (I saw some chat posted once where the FTP Team player said FTP did not get a cash game cut, but that is it. Anyway, the question is hypothetical and about players' expectations.)

I am pretty thick-skinned. Fire away. (Nice teeth by the way)
