Lee Jones\' Winning low limit holdem

What are your thougts on this? I read it this week and I want to go to play some limit at Foxwoods. It says in the book it applies up to 4/8 hold em. I want to go play 5/10 or or 6/12. Does the book apply to these stakes as well? Thanks.

I liked this book for beginners a while back, I don't recommend it anymore. SSHE and HEFAP are much better.

How come you don't recommend it anymore? And what do SSHE and HEFAP stand for? Thanks.

Too basic and not needed anymore.

Small Stakes Hold 'Em and Hold'em for Advanced Players. Start with SSHE.

That's the book I read along with a couple others when I started playing at Foxwoods, and it's done just fine for me. I do agree that Small Stakes Hold'em is better though, and you should definitely give it a read.

When you get to Foxwoods, the options for limit aren't very broad. There's a 2/4 game, a 4/8 that basically plays the same as the 2/4, and once you reach 5/10, they are all kill games. The next up is 10/20, then 20/40, and I don't know about this one but I think 40/80's usually running.

If you play straightforward limit hold'em you'll kill the 2/4 and 4/8 games. They're very loose/passive generally. It's not uncommon to sit down and be up 29-30 BB's in an hour, so enjoy it.

The 10/20 and 20/40 at FW are not kill games.

I guess I worded that wrong, I meant that the only 5/10 available is killed. You're right that 10/20 and 20/40 are not kill games. Sorry for the confusion.

P.S. I also mistyped the BB winrate, that was supposed to be 20-30, not 29-30. I was up way too late last night when posting I see.

Thanks for the input. Pardon my lack of terminology, but what exactly is a "kill game"?
