you should have run it at least twice, obviously.

Boo for it only being heads up PL and not NL too. If they don't change that in the next month I expect to spend my Ironman medals on a heads up NL $5/$10 table named accordingly as "predators rathole"

why would you expect this to change without sending an email to support?

i'm the one responsible for the "fast" tables and 6max on Stars... although I often regret it now.

i like having the HU tables around... people can finally realize i'm there to start up new full ring games.

Re: **********November Low Content**************

Stars fast tables suck so hard! There's no timer to let you know how long you have left AND it open folds when you run out of time instead of just checking. WTFFFF

Also, why the hell does everybody's name have to blink when they have action? This is so annoying. Four-tabling, your monitor looks like downtown Tokyo

Stars has the worst software. ARRgh.

[/ QUOTE ]

yeah, that is pretty awful. for some reason the LO8 tables seem much faster than the PLO8 tables on Stars... but I could just be delusional.

anyways, we could try to rally up an email horde to get the default action to be "check" or at least "sitting out", which is what full tilt has.

I've been on fire playing NL holdem for the last month or so, so I am giving omaha a break. However, I did play a short session today, and had one nice pot finally. Been getting burned in NL omaha8, so gonna stick with PL for a while when I do play.

I wish I had all the hands saved. This has been one of the swongiest months ever for me.

Missing a nice 40k upswing in first half. -10k in razz. +7k in stars. +7k in tourneys. +2k in holdem.

every day game i play in:

raise UTG AA23, 3 spades. guy to my left 3 bets, 2 cold calls, blinds call. i cap. all call, six way action.

flop (24 SBs): 765, two diamonds. i bet, guy to my left raies, nobody folds, i 3 bet. all call.

turn(21 BBs): Ace. i bet, guy to my left raises, next guy calls, 3 folds, i 3 bet, guy to my left caps, we both call.

river(33 BBs): 7. i bet, both call. 36 BB total

guy to my left had 23KQ and gets quarter, guy calling down the whole way mucks, i show AA23 for 3/4.

and i STILL lost this session. (although i admit i played terribly for the rest of the session)

Re: **********November Low Content**************

Me and Dave have a long history, and frankly can't stand eachother. When I am in a pot with him, I tend to play differently, and string him along for the ride. The flop was great for my hand, with the overpair, nut flush draw, and nut low draw. The turn card, while not improving my hand, did not scare my hand at all. You could make a case for moving in here, but at this point, I'm not folding no matter what the river is; i'm pot commited. With his preflop raise, he could easily be betting a busted low draw, or even have the same hand, aces and fives.

my PTO is busted but I think I had you running at -0.5bb for 2007 over 5000+ hands, most likely the same for '06. consider yourself priveleged to play with someone as good as me, maybe i'll let you kiss my shoe or something.

this is extremely typical play for this level on both Stars and FTP, common sense never prevails in these games. fortunately it does make the game very profitable, the only thing to do is make notes on the maniacs and steer clear of the nut peddlers.

Well, i've been getting raped at PL25, either getting sucked out on the river, getting counterfeited contantly, or getting quartered against worst-case-scenario hands; while not much monetarily its certainly frustrating. [censored]

Forums usually aren't the best way to learn a new game. There are several Omaha high/low books and I would like to know which is regarded to be best.

Re: **********November Low Content**************

Gurravasa - There is a special forum for discussion of books and publications. If you had put your question in a separate post, I would have moved it there - and I suggest you visit that forum and perhaps ask your question there.

Since you've posted in the low content thread, I can't move your post, and since it doesn't really deserve to get deleted, let me try to answer for you.

I don't know of any book that is specifically written for pot-limit Omaha-8. There could be one, but if there is, I've never seen it.

Most Omaha-8 books include sections on fixed-limit Omaha-8 and pot-limit Omaha-8.

I'm partial to Ray Zee's 2+2 split poker book. The last half of it is devoted to Omaha-8 (and the first half to stud-8). But there honestly isn't much specifically about the pot limit game - just a short section. However, his book does cover general principles quite well - and it is "the classic" book about Omaha-8, a must read for the serious student of the game.

Aside from that there are fans of Cappelletti, Krieger, and various other authors. I have bought every book I have ever seen with Omaha in it's title - over a dozen.

Ray Zee's book is the best, in my humble opinion, and is very readable.

The Omaha-8 section in Super System II is also very good.

Most of the other books have merit and I have probably picked up something from many or them - but some books are truly awful and others are very or somewhat misleading, so be careful.

Go to the books and publications forum for better information.

Thanx Buzz.

I posted in the "wrong" forum on purpose, because I expected to get better answers here, and I think I did! Sometimes there are too many opinions in the "book" forum and it's hard to get an straight answer. I'll dig up SS2 and order Ray Zees book and get going. Then I'll terrorize this forum with foolish beginner hands ...
