25NL: Z0MG I folded bottom-set!!11

Quite a while at table; action so far: normal - lil loose; stats villain: 35/0.8(!)/1.1; saw him limping/flat-calling with hands like AK/KK/TT preflop; he just called down some big draws, tptk & an overpair on a relative harmless board = never saw such a passive nit!

Poker Stars - No Limit Hold'em Cash Game - $0.10/$0.25 Blinds - 5 Players - (LegoPoker HH Converter)

SB: $33.30
<font color="black">Hero (BB): $41.85</font>
UTG: $9.90
CO: $23.45
BTN: $37.05

<font color="black">Preflop:</font> Hero is dealt 6[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] 6[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] (5 Players)
<font color="red">UTG raises to $1.00</font>, CO folds, BTN calls $1.00, SB folds, Hero calls $0.75

<font color="black">Flop:</font> ($3.10) 9[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] A[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] 6[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] (3 Players)
Hero checks, <font color="red">UTG bets $1.75</font>, BTN calls $1.75, Hero calls $1.75

<font color="black">Turn:</font> ($8.35) 8[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] (3 Players)
Hero checks, UTG checks, <font color="red">BTN bets $14.00</font>, 2 folds

Pot Size: $22.35 ($0.40 Rake)

Slowplay on flop okay?
Should I bet the turn?! Put the short-stack on an ace; I thought he will shove the rest of his moniez in so that I can make an isolation play if villain woulda call behind.

And the final question: Ezy shove or crying fold?!?
This is really ugly; I didn't expect this massive out-of-line overbet by villain!
Thought here of a higher set (best case A9) and because I only had invested a low amount, I finally folded.

No offense but this is beyond retarded.

Why did you call in the first place if you were going to fold a set.

Just because you hit a set doesn't mean you can't fold. That "logic" traps you into an absolute that is not always true; therefore, it is illogical.

Now DUCY?

I have no idea why there's even anybody talking about folding this hand. I think there should be talk on if a c/r on the flop or maybe a b/3b on the flop would have been better though.

I don't mean ZOMG NEVER FOLD A SET. I'm saying don't call for set value if you are going to pretend you are phil hellmuth and make wild assumptions that you're beat without even defining your hand. if you have 66 on a 678 monotone and it goes bet, raise, shove.. OK we might have a problem there.
