Playing medium pairs with flopped overcards

Standard situation question, you are in MP with 77, you limp in with a few others, lets say there are 5 or 6 small bets in the pot. The flop comes with 2 non suited face overcards and a small card, what do you do in these three situations:
1. its checked to you
2. sb checks, bb bets, utg calls
3. it's checked around and the CO bets

Thanks in advance guys

these kinds of questions are difficult/impossible to answer and the answers usually won't help you. situation 3 is particularly hopeless; what did everyone else do after co bet?

anyway, i am c/f all 3 of those.

Well its hypothetical, if you get the chance to be heads up with the CO you can play it out. If you get 2 callers, I am not sure.

This seems to me like a really bad idea. With 5 or 6 in the pot you have to assume CO has the goods, so why do you want to get heads up with a two-outer?

With the overs and that many in the pot, you need to hit the set to win. To make it profitable, you need to get paid very well when you do hit. I think the only way you play this hand for any more bets is if everyone in the pot is passive.

So, for #1 you check behind. For #2, you call only if you think most everyone behind you will call and not raise. For #3, same thing.

If there's any doubt, muck.

I'd c/f all three situations you described. Two overcards to our pocket pair is scary.

1. its checked to you

a bet will rarely pick up the pot, so check, if you get another shot at making trips it's not so bad

2. sb checks, bb bets, utg calls

what are you beating? fold

3. it's checked around and the CO bets

if it's folded back to you then you should either fold or raise, unless you have a good reason to suspect the player is trying to pick up the pot or is otherwise weak it's a fold
