A bit too loose? - $11 Stars 180 turbo

PokerStars No-Limit Hold'em Tourney, Big Blind is t100 (9 handed) Hand History Converter Tool from FlopTurnRiver.com (Format: 2+2 Forums)

BB (t3425)
UTG (t1040)
UTG+1 (t5895)
MP1 (t1525)
MP2 (t1690)
MP3 (t3470)
CO (t2470)
Button (t1415)
Hero (t1340)

Preflop: Hero is SB with 9[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img], A[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img].
<font color="#666666">4 folds</font>, <font color="#CC3333">MP3 raises to t300</font>, <font color="#666666">2 folds</font>, <font color="#CC3333">Hero raises to t1340</font>, <font color="#666666">1 fold</font>, MP3 calls t1040.

Table has been playing fairly loose and I haven't played a hand past the flop yet. This guy has been a bit tighter than most at the table, but not a rock.

If shoving here was too loose, then what range should I be shoving with preflop?

Hi Bob,

I think that your shove is barely +EV, if villain is anything like me (something you should pray for every day).

From MP3, he is probably open raising something like 66+, AT+, A5-A9s, KT+, QJ, SCs 65-JT. He would fold about 60% of these to your shove (i.e. everything but 88+, AJ+), and he would have about 73% equity against your A9o with what he doesn’t fold.

Putting it altogether, you win 60% * 450 = +270 if he folds, you win 40% * 27% * 1340 = +161 if he calls and you win, and you lose 40% * 73% * - 1340 = -391 if he calls and you lose. Net EV = ~40.

P.S. We’re all going to refuse to answer any more of your posts unless you bring your old avatar back.

close but readless I wait a little longer...thing is you will get paid off well with legitimately big hands...A9 13BB is close but I pass...AJ+ 77+ (maybe even lower pairs)...you never really have much FE in these so you are truly making a stand when you push that short

[/ QUOTE ]I agree with the caveat that there is much more FE when you're first in. I don't like it that much even if you're pushing over limpers (I probably would push A9 over limpers there). I think you can think about folding if villian is a tighter player. You can probably find a better spot.
Edit: nice avatar change

Enough people wanted it back. So, it is back. I didn't know that 2+2 automatically shrunk avatar files if they were too large. Otherwise, I would have done it a long time ago.
