bet 8.5 on the river, half pot misses so much value.

I check the turn. The board is dry, there are no draws out there, a free card is unlikely to hurt you, so if you get called here, you might be in big trouble.

As played, bet 2/3-3/4 pot on the river.

No don't check the turn. QJ and QT and calling you all day long. Checking is bad against this type of player. Bet more on river.
