Real estate newbie

I am a professional poker player with 2 years of paid taxes under my belt and live in the US. I would like to learn more about real estate and start investing in it but don't know how to learn. Any good websites or books that you guys would suggest for me?

reiclub.com
creaonline (i dont use this one though)

That's a really loaded question that could take pages to answer.

Much better off visiting a forum like reiclub and start asking questions.

Go to your local real estate investment club and start listening.

There's so much to learn. Take it slowly.

By the millionaire real estate investor book by Gary Keller.

That should get your toes in the water.

Probably the best thing to do is get yourself some good general books on REI. I like John Reed's stuff, and on his website www.johntreed.com you can get some other recommendations.

Probably you should stay away from the Rich Dad, Poor Dad stuff - the REI advice is way wrong, although there is some good general business/investing stuff in the first two or three RDPD books.

This is where I don't really agree with Spex.

My own personal oppinion is that RDPD is probably the best book for someone that has no idea whatsoever about investing. Many people that dislike Robert Kiyosaki don't realize the positive effects that this book has done to the world.

I don't agree with everything Robert Kiyosaki says but then again, since when do I agree with everything someone says?

My own personal oppinion of John T Reed is more of disgust than praise. I think he is an individual that is a bottom feeder. He uses very dirty manipulative ways to criticise someone. Often quoting one sentence and then proceeding to bash the hell out of the author who wrote it and devaluing an entire individual based off 1 sentence he took out of context.

I find the same kind of sick / dirty manipulative argumentation in politics.

Just for [censored] and giggles, if anyone wants to know how I got started with this entire Real estate thing, I'd link it to this post:

LOL, not even near the bottom yet.

Anything the op buys now he can buy at least 10% cheaper in a year, and thats being conservative.
