Semibluff with QJ

$270 tournament, 2600 entries, 10k startchips, avg about 12k.

Villian has been playing pretty tight/straightforward. My image is somewhat tight. We have not been involved in any pots together yet.

Last hand before break and the blinds will go up to 300/600 next hand.

Relevant Stacks:
Villian (SB): 11500
Hero (BB): 28000

200/400, 10 players

Preflop: Hero is BB with Q[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] J[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]
8 folds, Villian raises to 1400, Hero calls

Flop: 9[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] 8[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] 3[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] (2800)
Villian bets 2000, Hero pushes..

Like or dislike?

If he's been playing tight/straightforward, what reason do you have to believe he's bluffing and will fold?

No need. If he has been tight what is he going to fold after putting a third of his chips in with level up coming. Normally i don't think that is a bad play because it puts him on a tough call especially since you are showing tight image and just called his raise. I don't think he is going to fold with a third of his chips in. What were the results if you have time? PM them to me I would be interested in the results that way you dont have to ruin the thread.

He thought for a long time and finally called with A[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] 9[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] and his hand held up.

I am pretty happy with the way I played the hand even though I lost my fine chip position, esp given the large field.

what do you think about just calling on the flop instead and pushing the turn if he checks? any comments on preflop?
