I knew they were making a few movies and would then be showing new episodes on cable (I thought it was gonna be Comedy Central for some reason, but looks like Cartoon Network), but I only just found out the disappointing news that these were actually one and the same, according to the site, after Bender's Big Score they'll be three other movies, entitled "The Beast with a Million Backs," "Bender's Game," and "The Wild Green Yonder," released through 2008. Then all four will be re-edited as 16 TV episodes that will air on Cartoon Network.

This is good news everybody. I thought it was going to be Cartoon Network the whole time, kinda like when Family Guy got remade. I'm not sure how I feel about the whole DVD releases being made into episodes for TV a la "Stuey's Movie". Anything that involves more Futurama is by far a great thing for all.

edit: The hostile take over episode idea reminds me of "That 80's Guy" episode. I hope it will not be too similar.

Woah...I don't know how I feel about it being a movie, but I'm defintiely planning to buy all of these as of right now.

I love the idea of more futurama by why not just make normal 30 minute episodes? Is this a more profitable method?

IIRC, it was close to being cut, since they feared (and probably rightly so) that too few would get it. I agree, its great that it was left in.

I watched that episode with my friend's 12-year old daughter, who is a big fan, and she got it instantly. It may help to be young on that one, it's so off the wall. Which is why I love it.

I believe it's the one where bender gets lost in space and the little universe grows on him. Fry goes to some woman (forget) who says some quote like "Have you heard of the sacred order of the Monks of XXXXXX" (who are actively searching the universe for God).

Fry's response "I've not heard of them". (Like - at least that's somehing, right?)

yeah family guy to me doesn't have anywhere near the replay value that the simpsons, futurama, and south park have, I can watch old episodes of them over and over, but family just isn't funny on repeats

Whats great about this show, is that they'll put jokes like P vs NP in, even though its wasted on such a large chunk of their audience.
