\'Children of Hurin\'

Frankly I wish I had time to delve into this book, the reworking by Christopher Tolkien of his father's notes and unfinished narratives from the 'prehistory' of Middle Earth.

I still have a battered copy of 'The Silmarillion' that's probably 20 years old now and I enjoyed that book very much.

So really I'm looking for reviews and opinions of Loungers. Who's read it? Critiques? tl;dr?

I just finished this book. It is an expansion and more full version of a tale that is presented in the Silmarillion as "Of Turin Turamar".

I would only recommend this book to people that enjoy Tolkien and are interested in his tales. Although the book can be read on its own without the background it loses something if you lack the backdrop that it plays on. Not that it can't be a stand-a-lone book and a good read. Also the tale is very dark, but that is actually a plus. It is a tragic hero tale that has doom and fate, pride and power, and evil all entertwined.
