How is the 100-200 game in Bellagio?
 

To make a long story short..

I was wondering if the 100-200 game in Bellagio is loose/fishy enough for a decent winning small stakes (1-2 till 5-10 online) player to make a nice profit.

So how is the game....how many players on average see the flop. Are there many fish? Or is it just a game of the pro's..

I'm a beginning pro (make a small/decent living playing small stakes online) and I was considering moving to Vegas for a few months. I thought here on this forum are maybe a lot of pro's that play in these games so any help is appreciated..

I highly doubt a small stakes 1/2 - 5/10 player would find the bellagio 1/2 to be a good/appropriate spot.

Now that i've read the last paragraph of your post I think you'd be insane to give it a go.

the only vegas games i've played have been 80/160 at bellagio, 1/2 at rio, 1/2 at wynn that turned into a 150/300 game and 60/120 at wynn that turned into an 80/160 game.

i can't imagine that any of those games would be good enough for you to jump into given your post.

i mean it is possible but i doubt it.

further, i've been told (hearsay) that the bellagio game can, at times, be one of the worst 1/2 games out there.

unless you are just playing low online for kicks where in the world would you even get the bankroll for 100-200? i also think people greatly exaggerate how terrible teh online limit games are. i think the 30 games live are much much tougher than the 1-2 online, although i dont play that much live.

i'm not saying the online games are terrible. i'm saying live 30/60 is sick good. and when you factor in rake, im pretty sure you can win as much in bb/100 at 30/60 live as you can at 1/2 online.

agreed, when i used to frequent 5/10 online i played 3 or 4 live 30/60 games and they were much juicier than online

Commerce does not spread 30/60.

The last time I was there, they did have two 40/80 tables, a 60/120 starting, and a 100/200 and a 400/800 game going on a Saturday morning, all games full with wait lists.

what do you mean with good?...is it just loose? Are there loose callingstations? Could you descibe the games a little further?

I'm really interested in big juicy games and I couldn't get them in Europe so....any comments are welcome..

Different ball game entirely. A winning 5/10 online player may or may not be able to beat this game. It is a complete different skill set. You won't be able to win by just sitting back and playing tight.

This seems like the appropriate spot: I'm a winning mid-stakes NO limit holdem player. I have played some limit over the years online but it has been very limited. I would guess that I'm a winning 10/20 online FIXED limit player, but that's just a guess. How high a game do you think I could sit in and be breakeven in AC (probably Borg or maybe Trop)? Assume the game is a reasonable to good game for the stakes. Thanks.

You won't want to hear this...live: 20/40 probably because you can just out-fold everyone preflop. online: I very much doubt you can beat 10/20 like you think. The 10/20 6max games going on party day in and day out are tougher than any live 40/80 game I've played in probably ever, filled with a lot of guys that were beating a lot bigger games back on party poker.

If I had to describe what NL players do wrong at limit, it would be sort of difficult, because a NL player can blend in at a limit table for awhile depending on cards and the situations he gets into. But when a NL player makes a mistake in a limit game, he tends to make a BIG mistake, or a compounding mistake. He also tends to have a poor conception of his opponents' hand range so he has to play really 0'th level / ABC.

I know there is a sort of simmering anger that limit players all think NL players are bad at their game and NL players think limit poker is the kiddie game down the street, but since I know you are talking about legitimate stakes for both games, a winning player in one is pretty likely to be a fish in the other, at least right away.

Thanks, DD. I think a big problem I have is that when you're used to playing multi-thousand dollar pots in NL, you don't want to go and play multi-hundred dollar pots in fixed limit. So you move from 10/20 NL to 100/200 FL. But I'll take your words to heart and probably won't sit in any terrible FL games. Although I have been reading this high stakes board for years, so that should have prepared me to beat high stakes games, WTF!

(Also, the 10/20 FL comment comes from actually playing 10/20 on stars, not from just completely idle speculation. But I've only played a few thousand hands, so obviously I can't prove that I'm a winner. I am up money, though, and feel like I can certainly identify the fish and identify leaks in the non-fish, etc.)

One thing to remember though is that playing 10/20 NL, you are going to play a $1000 pot maybe a few times in an hour, so maybe 3 times in 100 hands? (I could be way off here). In a $100/200 limit game you will play a $1000 pot probably 90% of the hands. If you have big leaks in limit, they will be magnified by the fact that every pot risks this much money.

10/20 NL you play $1K pots all the time. Pretty much any pot that goes past the flop. But your point is fair, of course. I'm purely speaking from an action-junky perspective. I know there are better games in the casino for me to play from an EV perspective than 1/2 FL.
