Blackmail. School Me.

I checked the wikipedia definition of blackmail, but I'm confused a bit.

Situation - I hire a call girl to bang a guy I know who is drunk and wanting to get laid. When he comes to I show him the video of him banging the hooker and tell him to pay me a reasonable fee or risk me showing the video to his wife.

1. Is this blackmail?

2. What if the guy isn't drunk?

3. What if instead of hiring a call girl, it's a girl who will bang him free of charge?

4. Can you really go to jail for stuff like this?

1) Yes
2) Even Better
3) Same difference and cheaper for you
4) Only if you get caught

Although I recommend reasonable fee be turned into borderline obnoxious fee, might as well make this worth your time and effort, imho

Wikipedia, Blackmail, FIRST LINE:

Blackmail is the act of threatening to reveal information about a person unless the threatened party fulfills certain demands.

Please explain to me how you still don't understand.

Hmm...

Perhaps there was a reality tv show where average joe's were interviewed, and if they met certain criteria via survey (white, over 30, married 5+ years, at least one kid) they would be "interviewed" for a reality TV show.

They sign a waiver that everything they do can be taped and put on air, the same way Sacha Baron Cohen obtains the release forms. Besides the initial interview, everything else is recorded by hidden camera.

The mark assumes he's no longer on tape, at which point a woman who is part of the camera crew who is RIDICULOUSLY HOT (MUST BE A 10) shows interest in the man and asks him to dinner or some other event.

This woman then proceeds to hit on him and lets him know that she'd like to screw him. They hit a hotel and proceed to have sex.

If he bangs her... a few weeks later him and his family are invited to a "special screening" of the "reality TV show" where the truth is revealed.

If he chooses not to bang her... Same ending, but instead of public humiliation the contestant gets prize money.

Me and a few friends were talking about this earlier today.

It's like Cheaters, Borat, and Jerry Springer all in one.

Would it work from a legal standpoint?

I wasn't sure if it was illegal.

This is definitely blackmail, not sure how him being drunk or the girl being a hooker changes anything of relevance. What did this guy do to you that makes you wanna ruin his life?

Please go to a TV production company with this idea and post what happens. If it's convenient I'll go with you.
