Boat played really slow

Villain here is 18/12 with aggression by street 12/4.3/2.75, over a large sample.
In hindsight I think betting turn and river would have been best, is there any merit to this line?

bet all streets. but as played you HAVE to bet river imo. hope he spiked his flush and repops u

edit: nevermind hes not gonna repop u but he might call instead of just checking behind..

unless you have some insight into how villain plays that you can more profitably exploit, just do the straightforward thing and bet turn and river. it's really a crime not to bet this river after the turn is checked through, especially given that the flush draw hit.

think about this hand and the board texture for a moment. what is he calling with on the flop? maybe a 4, ten, a pocket pair, a flush draw, and the occasional float. turn is a bit of a deal killer for flush draws, and once he checks behind, floating is much less likely. on the river he typically has a hand with showdown value that he is unlikely to want to turn into a bluff. so, he is most likely to check behind on the river. and if he does bet, he is unlikely to call a check raise. therefore, you are simply better off just betting for value yourself.

I often like to bet flop, check turn, then bet river because I just do not see many hands calling 3 barrels once that turn hits but I can see many more calling 2 bets. If the opponent was a looser player I would probably 3 barrel more often but this guy seems kind of solid so I ussualy go with 2 bets .... maybe I am wrong with this line, does anyone have any thoughts on that?
