12 tabling and monitor setups

Currently I'm 8 tabling on two 20" monitors no resizing.
I'm trying to increase the number of tables, so I played for an hour 10 tabling on smaller tables.
My eyes got tired much sooner.

My options seems to be:
- buy another 20" monitor
drawbacks: too much neck movement, have to buy another video card too
- replace one with a 30"
drawbacks: cost
-cascade tables tried it in the past and didn't like it but might give it another shot

What do you suggest?

What kind of monitor setup do you use?

i run 2 22" widescreens...with 9 tables tiled one one screen, and 3 tables and poker tracker up on the other screen...its very nice easy to navigate...

No real suggestions here just yet, but I'm pumped you posted this.

I JUST RECEIVED MY NEW DELL 24" 2407WFP (1920x1200) AND DELL XPS 410 CPU. The CPU has dual DVI outputs and a TV Tuner, so I think I will 12 table and watch SportsCenter...in HD.

Unfortunately, the other 24" won't be here till Monday.

I'll post pics and opinions when I set it all up late tonight.

Re: 12 tabling and monitor setups

i play 12 tables on one laptop monitor, i just have 4 in the corners, 4 on the edges in between the corners, and 4 more staggered in the middle of the screen. theres plenty of overlap, but after a while you really dont get bothered by it, and theres less mouse movements since the tables are closer together. i think one monitor is always the way to go, i would never consider three

I play on a laptop using the tile tables button on stars, 3 rows of 4 tables.

Re: 12 tabling and monitor setups

A couple years ago I bought two 23" Samsung monitors. I hooked those two up and I also had a 17" CRT set up on it. I kept PT, AIM and so forth on the 17" and would run however many I wanted on the other two big ones. I also had set up an xbox controller so I could just lean back and play away. with limit, it was just easy to program buttons to be pressed. I've not worked it out with NL. I"ll have to look into that because it was the nuts.

Perhaps you should chill out on the 12 tabling while you aren't sure you beat the game (you mentioned you were on a big downswing in another thread). No offense intended.

my 22" are both acers...they go for around $320 brand new at bestbuy...i know acer is the most popular brand but they are pretty solid...also renton, i bought them a while back b4 my downswing, and since my downswing i have dropped to 8 tables max now...but i think my downswing may be over now, i booked a couple decent wins the past few days...but i will continue to just 8 table until i feel comfortable enough to go back to 12...btw no offense taken, i appreciate the advice...

if u can afford a 30" monitor get one. 12 tables tiled looks great, attach ur current monitor to run other program, if i was at school id post a pic of my setup. One of my best electronic investments yet.

Re: 12 tabling and monitor setups

I'm having some of the same thougths as OP, but I'm a bit worried about whether or not I will just spend my time looking up and down with a 30'', instead of from side to side with 2-3 "regular" monitors. Is anyone with a 30'' monitor able to chip in with a word of wisdom or two about this? It would be most appreciated.

Thanks for the responses. I haven't decided yet. One of the things that I'm not sure about is the eye strain. I mean if you look at a 30" monitor from the same distance as a 20" monitor the 30" going to tire your eyes sooner. Is that correct?

Im thinking of adding a second monitor. I already have a 19 inch and want to add something a little bigger to go along with it. What would you guys recommend? Price isnt really that much of an issue but Im not looking to drop a ridiculous amount on something I dont need.

I copy/pasted into my address bar.

Sometimes it doesn't work the first time you put the link in on these forums for some reason. I usually go back and edit and then it'll work the second time, although prolly to late for you now.

How does nine tables on one monitor (resized and tiled) look?

Re: 12 tabling and monitor setups

To get 9 on a screen is bad because the tables become tiny,

4/9th the size obv.

Im looking to get around a 22 inch, what would you guys recommend?

I already have a 19", if I add a 22" would I be able to 12 table without having to resize my tables?

Would I have to buy another video card?

You will need to get another video card. I would recommend an nVidia GeForce 512mb would be plenty and works very well.

Re: 12 tabling and monitor setups

I'm travelling around a lot so my options are a little more limited... I 12 table using a 17" ultrasharp widescreen (resolution 1920 x 1440) and a 19" acer at 1280 x 1024. I put 8 very nearly full-sized tables on the laptop screen - depending on table position the only visible seats are 2 and 3 or 7 and 8, so that can be annoying thanks to PA HuD not letting me rotate them around. The setup on that monitor is two rows of four, with each quadrant of the screen having two tables with roughly 80% overlap.

I have a 20" Westinghouse 1280x1024 (Best Buy was selling them for $160 last month), and I can fit 9 FTP tables with minimal overlap. It's a bit small, but I sit pretty close to the screen, so it doesn't bother me. If you're looking to play any more than nine, though, I'd recommend at least a 22 inch.
