No Country For Old Men

Looks like a dark thriller, maybe their pulpiest flick since Blood Simple. What an awesome trailer! Javier Bardem looks insane, it's got the hot chick from Trainspotting, Josh Brolin looking as great as he was in Grindhouse, and random shots of people like Woody Harrelson and Tommy lee Jones.

This is definitely the type of Coen film I like -- even though I (more than most people) really enjoyed their last two comedies The Ladykillers and Intolerable Cruelty, I'm probably a bigger fan of their dramas. I'd say my top 5 Coen films are:

1. Miller's Crossing
2. Fargo
3. The Man Who Wasn't There
4. Raising Arizona
5. The Hudsucker Proxy

Anyway, it doesn't come out til Nov. 9, but I am stoked.

Like I said, I prefer their dramas, but RA and Hudsucker are my favorite of their comedies -- I still like O Brother fine (I give it 7/10), but it doesn't crack the top 5.

Cardo: I don't want to get into a Lebowski thing; it just doesn't make me laugh as much as the other ones. John Goodman's character in particular, The War Vet Who Shouts A Lot, is just a cliche and really easy humor. I also don't think the word "dude" repeated ad nauseum is gut-busting hilarity. But I appreciate its efforts, it just isn't my cup o' tea.

New movie looks pretty good. I love their noir stuff. Tommy Lee is now the modern-era iconic Western Sheriff.

BTW I own the Blood Simple DVD and have seen it a couple of times, just don't care for it that much. Probably because I saw it after most of the others so I was expecting so much and got let down.

...on a list of the greatest things Western Civilization has ever produced. I'd put mathematics around 4-5, the computer lower down, democracy'd be up there - and then The Big Lebowski.

I think that the ending will be the same. I'm not sure if it will be in the same order as the book though. I can't see them changing anything from the book. They may omit or rearrange certain things though.

If that makes sense to anyone. I can't wait to see this movie.

I just watched the full preview, and it ends with Chigurh asking Carla Jean to "call it" (the coinflip). There is just no way they would put that scene in the movie and change the outcome. If they do, I would lose a lot of respect for the Coen brothers.
