Harrahs in New Orleans, strange rake method.

I'm in the process in moving to Florida and on the way I stopped at Harrahs, in New Orleans. They did not rake the blind, but instead they took 6$ (at a 2-5 NL) from every player at dealer changes. Now I've only played in Southern Cal and vegas but Ive never seen this before. Any advantages or disadvantages to this?

Search for time charge or time rake. There's a lot of posts about it. At 2/5 I don't think it's detrimental. You will never convince me that HNO didn't implement this policy because the 1/2 NL games weren't bringing in enough full rake pots. Time charge really cuts into stacks in a 1/2 200 game.

This is common, especially at 2/5 and above. Note, raking the blind is specific to California; most rakes are a fixed percentage of the pot up to a cap amount, 10% to $4 being most common in Las Vegas and Atlantic City.
