Re: Good PFR % For 25NL

Serious answer: Should be fairly close to your VPIP - maybe 2-4% lower.

For example, a VPIP of 18 usually accompanies a PFR of 14-16. Totally depends on your style though.

In before lox.

ya...but it would be hard to sustain 100 because of people folding to you in the bb.

Re: Good PFR % For 25NL

You'll notice a surprising lack of helpful responses in this thread, as well as suggestions that a lock is approaching. There are several good reasons for this:

1. Without knowing your VPIP, there can be no answer to your question.

2. Playing a particular style in order to get your PT numbers where you want them is a VERY BAD IDEA. You need to play a particular style because you understand it well and it works for you. Then, when you're playing in a style that functions well for you, the PT numbers will become something healthy.

3. There is no one "magic number" for any of the PT stats. Stylistic differences, table conditions, table image, comfort zones, relative stack sizes, and metagame all lead to different results. In other words, I can have a VPIP of 12% and you can have a VPIP of 8% and EMC can have a VPIP of 16% and Ama can have a VPIP of 20% and AJ can have a VPIP of 24% and all of us might be raising the proper amount considering all the other issues of importance.

4. Really broad questions with no obvious direction tend to get derisive answers rather than helpful ones, simply because they are so broad that you would require a book to properly answer them.

5. The fact that you are asking this question indicates that you would probably have a very hard time making use of a helpful answer. Let's say that I told you are correct, and your VPIP should be exactly 15%. (Let's even say that I'm right. ) How would you do it? Which extra hands would you raise? From what position? Under what conditions? How would you proceed on the flop? On the turn? On the river? Why? Until you can answer all of those other questions you can't really gain from a numerical answer, here.

Read the stickies. Read some hand histories. Start posting hands where you thought you should have been more aggressive preflop and see what people say. Gradually you'll get the hang of things and your numbers will move towards where they should be. Trying to take a shortcut past understanding to cookbook poker is usually quite expensive.

Most cures in other areas of life are symptomatic.

It is no surprise to see people try to fix the symptoms in order to fix the problem.

Maybe the sticky needs a post on this issue rather than ego trip replies to newbie posts like these.
