PPAPresident

This guy claims to be the president of the Poker Players Alliance. His email address is @pokerplayersalliance.org and his posts look legit. Should we change his title to indicate that he is who he claims? Do we need more verification?

Hi Bobbyi:

I'm very unsure about this organization just as I have been unsure about previous organizations that made similar claims and asked for money by purchasing a membership. So I think if he continues to post and if he does announce membership terms as he did in his first post he should probably be barred from the site or at the very least told not to solicit money here.

On the other hand, if he can post in a professional manner which he did not do, then he should be treated as a regular poster. Specifically:

This is an incredibly big threat to your rights as a poker player. I am the President of the Poker Players Alliance, pokerplayersalliance.org. We are a membership supported not-for-profit organization that fights for your rights as a poker player. The PPA needs your support on the hill, please visit our site, pokerplayersalliance.org, and if $20 is too much to sign up for a membership, at least send a letter or e-mail to your congressperson through our links and sign up for our newsletter as the Kyl bill will be introduced shortly, and we keep people updated on hot items on the hill through our newsletter.

is not how a professional should be posting. It sounds a lot more like a hukster to me.

Best wishes,
Mason

Party paid me $75 (after r.b.) to pay the alliance $15 for a sweet TShirt, Pin, and Card. I always assumed that the PPA was a lobbyist group funded by online casinos. (Their website claims to defend charity auctions, and home games, and charity auctions. It's pretty bogus.)

They're self-serving and slimy, so shouldn't be given any special permission on the forum. I don't know why the PPA needs to have an "official" word on anything.

Hi Sam:

Is this the same organization?

Poker Player's Alliance

If it is, I tend to agree with you.

Best wishes,
Mason

That's them. It really is a sweet loot-bag they send you.

My favorite was the lapel pin. In case the picture isn't clear, it's red, white, & blue, with suits along the ribbon. And it's in the same shape as the cancer or leukemia ribbons, except it's for GAMBLING.

The cards are fun, too. They're both that ribbed plastic that changes picture when you tilt it. The PPA logo changes to a Royal Flush. (In spades.)

Hi Sam:

I'm going to be a little more direct than I normally am. When I saw that the board of directors was made up of Linda Johnson, Greg Dinkin, and Jan Fisher in addition to their president Michael Bolcerek who I never heard of that was all I needed to see to not want much to do with them.

Best wishes,
Mason

I know if I had the choice of either curing leukemia or being legally allowed to play poker online, I would choose the latter. Not gambling is way more painful than going through chemo, upset families, etc...

God, that is really trashy of them.
