What if someone flips the table?

Let's say we're playing a cash game, I'm the host, and someone loses a massive hand and flips the table because he's pissed. I've never seen this happen, but hypothetically, what is to be done about the player's chips?

I guess I would refund everyone the money they bought into the game with. If someone had busted, I'd split it among the remaining players...

Really such an unlikely scenario that I doubt anyone would really be too concerned with your ruling in this case.

Since this is hypothetical......Are we assuming like 9 players and everyone intially bought in for $100 and there have been several rebuys / rechipping since a player or two felted and some others lost 1/2 to 3/4 and wanted a full stack of $100. So 9 players and aprox. $1400. First you'd have to hope as many players as possible have a good idea of their chip counts or where they stand for the night, $$'s won / lost so far, and are honest about it. Other than that you can only try to recreate where everyone was. Assuming this is a friendly home game this might be possible. But why a player would topple the table in a friendly home game is beyond me.

So, assuming more of a casino atmosphere, players only know each other through the game and most if not all are there primarily to win money I would just give everyone their money back. Except the table tipper. Some (maybe all) of his money would need to go to the player that just beat him. Hopefully you have some idea of the size of the pot.

This might not be the fairest but no one is "truely" injured by it. Everyone is returned to the same state they were in before the game started.

If you cannot recreate the buy in's I don't know what I would do?

If you fear this might happen in your game I recommend not inviting that player anymore or bolting the table to the floor.

I'm assuming this follows the KITN and then auto-ban-for-life for the idiot?

His chips are divided among the other players as a penalty. The other stacks, do your best to recreate the amounts- the banned player's chips can help here.

Also, KITN for whomever sponsored the idiot.

I assumed KITN was standard, didn't include it, but then again, you probably didn't tell the guy not to flip the table either.

Re: What if someone flips the table?

lol, what is KITN? In context here I feel I can safely assume "kick in the nuts" ? Anyways, yeah, obviously the player would be kicked out of the game and (most likely, might have the regulars vote on it) be banned.

So I guess it's either "try to get the stacks back the way they were" (sounds nearly impossible) or "refund the money" (leaving the people that were winning very angry). I just wonder because sometimes I think it might happen, lol.

Anyways, thanks for the responses, if it does happen I'll have an idea of what to do.

Also, I think the player that flipped the table should have all of their assets forcibly removed and divided among the remaining players in the game. For instance if the player that flipped the table has a nice watch or some sporty gym shoes, these are taken and split (or put into the next pot).
