Being a phase one vampire is not too bad. Once you get to the point where daylight actually hurts you, then that's bad. But you can remain in phase one by feeding on people between resting.

What race / build are you? This game consumed like 150 hours of my life and I still have a lot left. I havent played in a while since I hit a pretty bad glitch that doesnt let me finish the thieves guild and I lost some interest.

Prepare to stay up until sunrise a few times, youll get sucked in and lose track of time.
