Ingmar Bergman opens the Seventh Seal

Ingmar Bergman Dies

Was he really that good or was all just smoke and mirrors, shadows and trick lighing, ratty scripts and ego driven actors? Anyway I hope he met death without the hood.

No he was good.

It's a shame, and I feel a little guilty about hoping this'll probmpt an Ingmar Bergman season on TV.

He wsa pretty amazing...Wild Strawberries, Persona and Fanny & Alexander remain my favorites. The Virgin Spring is pretty powerful, too.

Never, TV would cut(edit out scenes) his movies to pieces.

I probably shouldn't be surprised, this news comes after I just watched his trilogy of faith and came to accept him as my Lord and Savior of Cinema. His films are more sublime than any by other great directors. They are incredibly powerful on a very deep level, but only if you have the patience and the sensitivity.

I've only gotten around to The Seventh Seal and Virgin Spring, and I consider both to be masterpieces. I'll have to move some of his other work up my queue.
