Iron Chef OOT 11/13-11/19

Congrats to Iron Chef Mrs. Utah for her victory in the Great Bacon Battle last week! For our next ingredient, Mrs Utah has chosen:

Rice

A few suggestions: Use different grains. Try to avoid simply making X and serving it over rice. Think of different ways to prepare and use rice.

This will be a 3 course competition, however, the dessert WILL be a rice pudding. For the rice pudding, presentation, preparation, and flavorings will be what separates the competitors.

One more thing. I want you all to be aware of www.imageshack.us This wonderful site allows for easy image sharing. You simply upload your image (and this is key) resizing to 640x480 then click on your image. This will show you what your picture looks like. Right click on it and choose "copy image location". Then, go back to 2p2 and click on "image" under "instant UBB code" ctrl+v will paste the image location, and then Voila! we can all see your image and all pictures are of a comfortable size. More importantly, I don't spend ten minutes on sunday copying your pictures to my computer, hosting them at imageshack, and then resizing them to post in the voting post. thanks!

neither am I. In fact, rice pudding is something I've never made, and rarely eaten. I think that it will make for an interesting part of the competition.

I would encourage voters this week to look at the ingredients and "making of" posts, rather than focusing so much on picture quality - which I think was a problem last week.

Immaculate presentation and high picture quality go hand in hand because those that care about high picture quality are likely the same that care about immaculate presentation. Make your food look good. I wish I had the photographic skills of Mrs. Utah, or at the very least, the dishware and silverware, but I don't. If I did, you can be damn sure that I'd use them. We're not going to have our better picture takers dumb down their entries so that ours look better by comparision.

No, I'd prefer that everyone had fancy plates and cameras. But I think people should not quickly glance over the pictures post at the end of the thread and choose those that are sharpest, as I imagine some do.

Just want to make sure this is a contest about food and not photography.
