Any reason NOT to switch to Emigrant from ING?

I am considering opening an Emigrant direct account and moving from funds there instead of ING. I don't have a lot of money, so the $$ amount in extra interest is really not huge, but emigrant has historically had higher rates than ING, and half a percent is half a percent no matter how much you have.

Reviews, comments or complaints on Emigrant direct are welcome.

Anyone who has used both? Which did you prefer?

Is there a referal system whereby I can get some extra $$ for signing up from someone?

Thanks

Try HSBC, 6% on new money until sometime in April. I have no complaints about them and they always seem to be a little above ING/Emigrant anyway.

http://www.mymoneyblog.com/online-sa...d-comparisons/

has good comparisons of the online savings accounts, updated regularly.

One thing to look out for is the amount of time your money will be floating. Sometimes your money will be not earning interest for 3-10 days when you move it, so be sure it's going to be worth it. The site I linked to has resources to figure that out.

I just got an ING account. The setup was very smooth, it took about 15 minutes. Im putting my bankroll in there, until online cleans up.

I looked around for signup bonus, and there is a $25 for ING

BTW get the sign up bonus then move it to best option. Citi bank sent me a 5% with 100 bonus for 3k or more held for more then 3 months.

HSBC is great.

BTW, HSBC stands for "Honk Kong and Shanghai Banking Corporation".

I have Emigrant and really like it. They recently re-did their interface to make it a little more user friendly. There is also a lot of security and I feel my money is very safe, yet accesible for me.
