They look like two different people. Plus the 2nd pic seems like it is taken from further away which adds to the effect. This is as lame as examining random pictures of Bonds with no means to actually measure the size of his skull...just poor juxtaposition.

So, these pictures looked unfair because it appeared like the second shot was intentionally made to appear smaller than it was. I was right, but it doesn't really change much. Here's what the pictures look like with their heads proportionate to each other.

i dont really see the difference. his shoulders are just relaxed in the 2nd picture. Also, the jersey he is wearing in the first picture make his shoulders look broader than they actually are.

No offense, but steroids don't really have a huge impact on the ability to see a ball, make contact, and generate a sound swing. Furthermore, the steroids Merriman were taking were probably for a specific purpose.

No offense, but steroids don't really have a huge impact on the ability to see a ball, make contact, and generate a sound swing. Furthermore, the steroids Merriman were taking were probably for a specific purpose.

look at his neck. in the first pic it is clearly angled out toward the bottom on both sides. in the second pic his neck clearly goes straight down. its hard to compare shoulders because the shirt in pic one is padded, but it seems like there is a significant different there.

Not to mention he apparently got about 3 shades lighter. I'm not claiming that makes up the difference but shading and coloration absolutely do impact human perception. This is why you always see coloring differences between before and after pictures on weightloss programs and for acne meds and stuff like that. Darker is generally bigger.

if you had large traps you would know that when you tense/raise up your shoulders, it causes your neck to thicken in the manner we see in picture 1. In picture 2, it is fairly obvious that his shoulders are quite relaxed, which explain the straightness of his neck.

not saying there is NO difference, just that is not as big as people seem to be making it. FWIW i am not a SD fan.

imo these pictures are more for entertainment than anything else. it's not like with Bonds where people are trying to use them as evidence proving that Merriman took steroids. We already know he did, this is just fun after the fact.

Pretty humorous that people think there isn't a difference in his appearance. His face, neck, and shoulders are all narrower.

FWIW, he looks healthier in the second picture.
