What Is Latest Thinking On Multi Reps With Heavy But Shrinking Lbs?

In other words you have two spotters for your squats or bench presses, your bar has lots of small weights on the end, your first rep (after proper warmup beforehand) is near your maximum, but you do 10-20 reps because your spotters continually remove plates.

Obviously this uses up less calories, at least immediately, than you would doing a bunch of sets of several reps where only the last one or two reps were of equal intensity as every rep is in the first scenario. But aside from that obvious difference, is it known whether the decreasing weight method is better or worse than the standard method?

Better or worse for what?

What you describe is not used in strength training. And I think 10-20 total reps is below what bodybuilders use for reverse pyramids, but I don't know.

My personal trainer does drop sets sometimes. He says it's to shock the muscle.

Commence attack...

How much reading on exercise science and nutrition have you done?

Fine. I would have thought that the *minimum* reps would be 20 for that sort of thing, but like I said, I don't know much about that kind of training or have experience with it-- Although, I think I understand the theory behind it... As far "shock therapy"-- changing/mixing up the stimulus helps a lot of things, I gather.

Generally we do something like 8-20 reps on the drop sets, close to failure usually but I could probably do a couple more if I had a gun to my head.

Learn what intensity means. This causes me rampant tilt.

Its pretty clear you have like zero clue about anything wrt fitness and diet and you decide to spew drivel that some bastard form of "logic" comes across as good.

This feels like when I read articles in Harper's about increasing welfare for inner city minority families.

David, you need to take a human biology course, then read up some more on strength training. After you read up on how the body works, get a little taste of this for the info on muscle fiber types, and then read this entire website to get a better idea of the factors that are at play in strength training.
