Re: flaxseed

A few bullet points summarizing what I have read:

-Use the milled seed, not the oil. Your body processes the seed nutrients much better AFAIK.
-Fish oil is way preferable.
-Flaxseed mixed in with oatmeal or cottage cheese or shakes or yogurt gives a good texture (my opinion).
-You should limit your flax intake or just replace it with walnuts and other oils as it supposedly has a bunch of links to phytoestrogens.

The last bullet point isn't wrong, but I mixed up oils. High flax oil consumption has links to prostate cancer in men, so don't go overboard. However, the estrogen concerns still exist, but aren't certain.

Re: flaxseed

I have been eating flax seed meal with my oatmeal every morning for a while now. I buy the golden flax seed whole from Whole Foods Market and grind them myself - saves me a ton of money over buying the preground meal.

It has a good flavor, good texture, and tends to help fluff the oatmeal up when its microwaved. I like the stuff for those reasons alone, the dietary benefits are just a plus.

Elite athletes like Barry Bonds and Marion Jones used it to get to the top.

I eat 3-4 tbsp of flax oil a day and my gains are noticeably better when eating flax oil than replacing it with some other fat.

Yes. Flax is a very good food.

I like milled flaxseed. Flaxseed oil tasted too intense for me.
