The guy in the top right is Mike. He plays in my home game in Raleigh. I believe he won a pokerstars satelitte for the seat.

I'm not sure which year, but this is a pic from a prior year's PokerStars World Cup of Poker. The 8 teams that make the finals are made up of 2 players who won a series of freerolls online, 2 players who were the TLB leaders for the year from their country, and 1 invited celebrity player. Tom is the celebrity, and the other 4 got on the team as mentioned above. Same thing this year, only I was the celebrity player for Team USA.

This is a great event, lots of fun, and the structure was excellent. However, with the winning team pocketing 100K to share 5 ways, this is not an event that gets tons of press in the poker world. It's not like the winning team's country would try to use this as proof that they are the greatest poker-playing country in the world.

Alan "Mariachi" Dyrstad who finished second a few years back said it was prob the most intense tourny he ever played. I try for seats every year as I would love to represent my country in battle such a cool event.
