why do I feel so groggy and lack of energy when playing??
 

Hey guys,

Recently I turned pro to play sng's for income and this is my 3rd week into playing. During my 1st 2 weeeks I felt normal and was energized. However, lately I have been feeling quite groggy and lacking energy. Especially a few hours after I eat, I feel like napping again and am falling asleep in front of the computer

I usually go to sleep at around 4 or 5 am and wake up around 12 or 1pm.

I am not the healthiest guy: daily smoker, 30 pounds overweight, and I eat out everyday, and don't workout.

I know working-out helps and I definitley plan on eventually going to the gym. But does anyone have similar problems? Any products to recommend? Any personal routines to help keep you fresh during your poker sessions? Any advice in general?

The one thing that bugs me is that I never really had such a problem, why now?

amphetamines will deal with both your weight and energy problems

LOL - they will mask the underlying causes. Don't take them!!!! Deal with the causes - you have already indentified what those are.

Yeah, you pretty much solved it. I have just recently started going for a run in the morning before I start playing and I honestly notice a really big difference in not just my overall game but how long i can concentrate/not fall asleep.

a word on amphetamines I usually drink several cans of diet pepsi throughout the day (sugar makes me crash)
I have taken adderall and redbull but things that intense tend to make me prone to tilt
overall, a slight caffeine buzz seems to be best for me

I post in FR so I have never talked to a sng pro before.
out of curiosity, what buyins do you play and how do you find the variance?

It's not poker causing you to be groggy, it's your lifestyle

You can still workout & straighten out your diet and all that stuff when you sleep 5am-1pm.
