Russo\'s \"America: Freedom to Fascism\" video

Link to movie

I got this link via the Aaron Russo RIP thread and I wanted to get a discussion going about this. I hope this hasn't been done before.

The video is 2 hours long, but well worth it to watch. This is without question, the most thought provoking movie I have ever seen.

We pay income taxes which pay off a debt we should have never had. Our country has been manipulated and misled by the rich elite bankers and ruling class. People who epitomize everything this country should be against.

We now have an illegal, unjust tax.

We have lost many of our most sacred civil liberties.

We will soon have national ID cards and microchips tracking our every move and purchase.

This country is descending into something very disturbing and scary. We need to know about these things and to educate others.

This issue is not a Republican v Democrat issue. Lets not be polarized on this people! This issue is America v the rich elite .000000001% that don't give a God damn about any of us!

According to Russo's film, and many other groups, the Federal Income Tax.

What are your thoughts on it?

I am somewhat unfamiliar with the whole debate really. As I mentioned in my OP I found his film incredibly thought provoking. If you feel strongly one way or the other, I would like to here your opinion.

Re: Russo\'s \"America: Freedom to Fascism\" video

Article 8, Section 1 of the US Constitution :

The Congress shall have Power To lay and collect Taxes, Duties, Imposts and Excises, to pay the Debts and provide for the common Defence and general Welfare of the United States; but all Duties, Imposts and Excises shall be uniform throughout the United States;

And the 16th Amendment to the Constitution:

The Congress shall have power to lay and collect taxes on incomes, from whatever source derived, without apportionment among the several States, and without regard to any census or enumeration.

I havn't watched the video yet, I will soon, but the there is no higher law than the constitution.

Taso :

A supreme court ruling said that the 16th Amendment conferred no new power of taxation to the government. The constitution allows only excise and direct taxes, the income tax is neither.

Iron, I looked through those threads. I see many of the same subjects were covered. I apologize for starting a new thread, but I don't spend much time here.

In one of those threads an inflation calculator is linked.

Amazing, $100 in 2000 has the buying power of $121 today.

So we have lost $21 since Bush was in office, which is similar to when Clinton was in office.

In my short life, we have lost $130 dollars in buying power.
$100 in 1981 is the same as $230 now.
