Lego Poker training videos....a joke?

http://leggopoker.com/index.php?page...o&video=36

I'm not trying to just flame their new site, but I can't help wonder what they are thinking if this isn't a joke. From the few minutes I watched this "free sample" video, not only would I never go back to Lego Poker for instructional videos, but this guy, is posting in the CO in 6max, looks at a guys HUD stats in a BvB hand and says something like "this guy seems to be kinda tight, oh wait, I mean, kinda loose, etc...I was literally laughing.

Obviously they might not all be like this, but from what I saw when I went to their site, they only had 2 options for sample videos, did anyone in Lego Poker management watch this before they released it to potential customers as an example of their product?

To anyone familiar with CR of PXF videos, what do you make of this?

Re: Lego Poker training videos....a joke?

Certainly not a joke sir. That "guy" is Carrotsnake, a very successful small stakes and mid stakes player.

What is wrong with posting in the CO?

I'm guessing when Carrot glanced at his HUD stats he seen the 13% PFR and typically PFR is close to VPIP so he assumed this player was a nit, but then when he checked the VPIP to confirm this he noticed that it was much higher than expected and so said he was loose.

I am a co-owner of LeggoPoker, and yes, of course we watched all of these videos before releasing them, and we all agreed that these are great samples of what we have to offer.

Re: Lego Poker training videos....a joke?

Glad to get a response from someone at Lego....

Hopefully you can answer me this....

Do you really think that this "instructors" assessment of TwelveBeers being a TAG "because of his name is a reasonable one?

Also, he says "it's a pretty drawy, well not dreally "drawy", but the card "above me" is a little scary"...

I mean, it just seems to be really unprofessional and sloppy, imo. I think there is plenty of room in the online poker training market if the new entries take the right angle, I just can't see how anyone who saw this video would ever consider Lego over CR or PXF at this point....

Re: Lego Poker training videos....a joke?

Sorry you didn't like the video.

I don't think your classification of the video being a "joke" is fair though. It seems like you took a couple of little things Carrotsnake did in the video, which ultimately are pretty insignificant, and made a broad conclusion.

Anyone that is looking to improve as a player will find tons of useful content in Carrot's video, this is literally the first complaint I have heard about the video.

Re: Lego Poker training videos....a joke?

The commentary he is making is not insignificant imo. He may be a winning player over however long, but in order for his videos to be helpful, quality commentary is essential. Are you saying his commentary is up to par with Lego Poker standards?

Re: Lego Poker training videos....a joke?

Why CarrotSnake's videos are good: He is a good player, more aggressive than most, and a better handreader than most.

Why you didn't like it: You are a bad nit. You get owned by players who are more aggressive than you and know how to handread.

T-God 11-21-2007 02:50 AM

Re: Lego Poker training videos....a joke?

Meh, he prob posts in the CO to get the action in the video going quicker. Then he misreads a stat and corrects himself. Then he makes an assumption about play of an unknown based on what he has.

Seemed like a solid vid from what I saw.

Re: Lego Poker training videos....a joke?

What I think is really great about videos with commentary is that you get to hear basically exactly what good players are thinking. Naturally some people will approach the game differently, but rather than being critical perhaps you could be more open-minded and learn more from the video. I think you get a lot out of "hearing the player's thoughts," even if they are expressed in a way that is unfamiliar/sloppy to you.

It's not easy to explain yourself perfectly when you're making a video on the fly and still trying to concentrate on the hand. But if you focus on his points and are less nit-picky you'll learn a lot. He is basically thinking out loud for you, what a great way to get insight into how he plays, you get to experience exactly how he analyzes hands.

Yes. We've received a lot of positive feedback on the commentary from all of our videos so far. Thank you for your input though.

Whilst his vid didnt make me instantly sign up, its one of the reasons im going to buy a sub at some point in the next couple weeks.

I dont want to see someone nit it up and do nothing spectacular. Im not gonna claim i understood half of the moves he pulled off, but im not afraid of what i dont understand.

Also - as far as commentry goes, virtually no one is ever really good the first time they do vids like this - knowing something and explaining something is very different. Its one of the reasons why many guest pros get hated on at Cardrunners (and id imagine other sites).

I just watched MYNAMEIZGREG's sample $10/$20 video, and I must say it was fantastic. Non-stop commentary throughout the entire video, as well as an extremely solid analysis of the hands and table dynamics. It's probably in my top 15 instructional videos I've watched, and I've watched like 40% of the videos on CardRunners.

Since it's free, I highly recommend it to anyone who likes money.

g-p, FWIW aejones videos are being transported as we speak by a team of US Navy Seals in an ultra secure unmarked truck to our warehouse in an unknown location until we unleash it to the public. The price for that may be far too high.

OP is just hating for no reason. The video was not bad at all and just looking at the lineup of winning players doing videos at the site it should be clear it's worth the price alone.

QFT.

All,

Obviously things like this are going to happen, there will be people that don't like the videos (I won't rant on how OP most likely didn't understand the videos, because that's another avenue). Thanks for those that are supporting our videos in general, and, to those that do not like what they see, we will be glad to entertain your ideas why. Of course, it would be helpful to have more to say than "posted not in BB to get the video rolling, and misread a stat for a second" .

PS I am very humbled that everyone liked my video so much .

EDIT: Just saw that OP started this thread as well.. http://forumserver.twoplustwo.com/showfl...e=0&fpart=1 . So, um, yea...

Re: Lego Poker training videos....a joke?

lol precisely if I become member of leggopoker one of the reasons will be to see the vids from carrotsnake.

He sure looks like an aggro donk at his vid, but he has got the respect and admiration from the best players who have played with him, as well, as very good results at his limits.

So, it makes learning from him a lot more interesting since it seems he uses a very, very aggressive style, who is very different from what most of the players do.

Also, would like to say that I don't know him nor I've played with him. But I've read enough at 2+2 about him to make myself an idea. He looks like a really nice guy too.

Re: Lego Poker training videos....a joke?

Like I said before, this was the first and only video I watched and I have nothing personal again LP (unlike 95% of this thread which is somehow affiliated with Lego Poker). What I'm saying now, like I said before, for someone who knows nothing about the LP site...watching the OMGcarrotcake video literally had me questioning how different this operation was than that kid on youtube who was "instructional sng videos". One thing specifically similar is when carrottop deduced that "TwelveBeers" is a TAG more or less "because of his name"??? among other things...

Pls let me know how much you charge to explain how he comes to this conclusion.

Bottomline is, my first look into LP's new site, and I'm laughing at the sample video commentary enough to where I shut it off and started showing fellow regulars on FTP who were laughing as well.

I have nothing against LP and if nothing else they should be thankful for this thread as it has become a haven for gogogoglglglgl LP posts. Take my original assessment of LP after watching this video FWIW. If even a few others get the same idea, it might be worth considering a different sample video of your product with some decent commentary.

Just wanted to say for the record that none of the posts here (besides me greg craig and aaron - ie people with LP avatars) are at all affiliated with LeggoPoker.

We appreciate any and all input, and we are glad that this thread has shown what the community thinks of the videos (and all but you are positive), so thanks.
