What do you think of a call here?

Early stages of a NL MTT. Blinds are 300/600 with 75 ante, 9-handed.

You have 8800 in chips after putting in your big blind. Your hand is K6s.

Three off the button opens for 1800. He gets two cold-callers including the button.

Action is on you.

Something which you did not mention in your post is the stack sizes of the other players.

Anyway, if this is the early stages of the tourney, I am going to assume that it is less likely for the opening raiser to be attempting to steal than if it were the later stages, unless of course he was short-stacked himself.

The cold-callers might just be loose players calling with any 2 cards, but they could also be calling with reasonable hands.

If you call with your K6s, what are you hoping to hit on the flop ?

A flush draw would be nice, but would not guarantee your survival, and if you make top pair, you have a poor kicker against 3 opponents, in a raised pot.

With an M of just over 5, I would be inclined to fold this hand, and wait for a better opportunity to hopefully open raise all in (with any reasonable hand) and try to start rebuilding your stack, while your open raise has decent fold equity as it can still threaten to hurt your opponents.

You have the smallest stack of any of the players involved.

Also as for it being the early stages, actually it's not that early, I just meant that survival equity is not a factor as the money is too distant.

BTW I have a strong opinion about this hand I just wanted some independent opinions.

Last to act so it costs you 1200 to see 6675 or 5.5-1 ... not bad

I'd call unless I'd been drinking in which case I would shove

fold > push > call

Pretty much all of your options are decent.

If pushing gets you heads up against QQ or worse you are fine considering the deadmoney and the ante size (which will quickly grind you down).

You are getting good enough odds to call.

Your stacks is big enough to fold.

In general I'd make my play based on table dynamics. Was the PFR laggish? Was a cold caller somewhat trappy? Do you have weak players to your left?

Other than that...meh

Fold. OOP, multiple opponents, and [censored] cards are not compensated by pot odds and implied odds. Assuming opponents are decent-good.

It's an easy fold. You don't want commit 15-20% of your stack with just K6 OOP. You could shove, but without any reads I would just let it go.

Fold >>> any other option.

Re: What do you think of a call here?

I agree with LSgambler and SnareSound.

I was hoping to get some more harsh replies than I did. IMO a a call here is terrible.

Given the lateness of the raiser I kinda think a push is best, but anyway fold is obviously fine too.

The reason I posed this question is the player in question was Sklansky, and he called.

He was at my table in a 5k event recently for a few hours and he was frankly pretty bad. There are a few more hands I could post but I thought this one was nice and easy to set up.
