qeustion is
am i getting calls from weaker hands here often enough to make this river bet

btw villian instacalled the turn wich somehow made me put him on Some kind of KJ KT type of hand or some kind of drawing hand but my instincts put him on a weak J or T thats why i betted

just wondering if i should check behind here in the future or that weak hands do call me enough

btw 2100 players left
and read on villian is that he's tight and weak aggressive
usually doesnt see a turn without having something

Shove the river, you are getting weaker hands to call, and if he'll call 3K, he'll call the rest of your stack (5.3K). 3K makes it look even more like a value bet.

I'm betting this river most of the time. I would probably shove it all too. If this guy is really checking 66, A10, AJ, or KQ to you on the river, more power to him for being a tricky bastard I guess.

For what it's worth, I can't really think of what he might have here unless it's something like Q [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]J [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] or K [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]J [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img].

I think Preflop is fine... and I would expect the action to play out this way behind you the vast majority of the time... so your very likely to see a flop in position with alot of weak money in the pot and your hand being a middle connector should play preety well here... not a bad spot if you are expecting the pot to offer you 3-1 like this when the action is completed...

Re: Trying Hubbles...

I think preflop is fine - we are 45BB deep.

Flop raise is good.

Turn-bet is also good, as there are not many hands that limp preflop, call a raise on the flop and then check that turn.

River is a check-behind for me. You have to ask yourself what hands call a raise on a flop and a big bet on this turn, that doesn't beat you. If he was on a draw he will not call your bet. I think KJ, KT hands are not very likely to call a big bet on the turn, where an ace hits. Maybe KK or QQ, but you are beaten by some sets, a higher 2-pair like AT,AJ,A6 and KQ. So I would be happy to check behind here.

I think I agree with you levi but my problem I have with this thought process is the 5 of diamonds could not possible have helped anyones hand here... so if you were beat then villian missed a street of value somewhere especially considering he is OOP (depending specifically on what his hand is)... anyways that makes it so I have to value shove this river unless I think villian has some passive tendenicies in which case I would be delighted to check behind because I have defined my hand at this point... The higher 2-Pair hands are preety unlikely because of the way villian played his hand on one street or another... KQ not played for value in a tricky way does fit and is an unfortunate possibility but your getting a value call sometimes from QJ of clubs and KJ of clubs... and most of the time from AX of clubs... all of which make much more sense for him to have here then AT or A6...

I don't like the flop raise size. Your implied call makes the pot 1600, so I feel 800 more is too small on that drawy a board.
I shove river. I can't see him just c/c turn, check river with a better hand almost ever. You have the best hand a humongous proportion of the time, so just shove & let him decide what to look you up with.

Re: Trying Hubbles...

Basically all that levAA said.

PF is fine as we are pretty deep and have position (somtimes I call, sometimes I fold).
Flop and turn are also fine because we have a strong hand and want to get value and / or protect it.

As for the river: which hand villain will call with that made it this far? We raised the flop, bet the turn and now bet the river. We clearly can beat top pair.

I would put villain on KQ (maybe clubs) or a J. Every busted draw folds to a river bet. So does a weak J (QJ, KJ). 2 pair, set and straight call or CRAI.

first off fold pre...why is everyone limping J 10 off all of a sudden...did I miss a memo or something?

as played a river bet is fine...if he shoves then you have a problem as QK is right in his range

fold preflop JTo to no raises ?!?!

you must've missed a memo...

this used to be regarded the best starting
holdem hand for its high straight and
relatively high pairing possibilities.

well, personally, i don't play it like it's the nuts...
but there's no way i fold it preflop in an unraised pot.

in fact, i'm likely to believe i'm way ahead and raise.

Re: Trying Hubbles...

You can limp or fold JTo here. The thing with limping is that you have to be careful. It's pretty easy to flop the second best hand. But once you hit 2 pair or a straight on a AKQ board, chances are that you get paid off.

If you are new to the game, fold JT. If you feel that there are only good players at the table, fold JT.
If I'm playing against a table full of donks, I limp JT all day here because I want to play as many pots against them as possible.

Also, with those type of hands you actually learn to play postflop and to put villain on a range of hands.

Re: Trying Hubbles...

yeah i can agree with aruguments of folding TJo PF

but as the situation was that my Flop play was better then anybody on this table (as far as ive seen)
also i was getting enough respect from the table so far

so thats enough reason for me to limp along
+ i was deep enough

Raise pre. Biggest(only) leak of the hand.

TheFoxNL 11-14-2007 02:23 PM

Re: Trying Hubbles...

i wouldnt call it a leak.. as its not a bad thing to limp along
if my post flop play sucked balls then i would raise

Re: Trying Hubbles...

You don't need to play post if you can take it down pre. You don't need to make a suspicious value bet on the river if you naturally have to jam due to stack sizes.

Re: Trying Hubbles...

i make more on flop then i do PF
i can understand ur argument but i this is a freeroll
