Bankroll for shortstacking?

For NLHE, the rule of thumb is that a player needs ~20 buyins to have a very low chance of going busto (assuming he is a winning player). For PLO, this may be higher, but 20 buyins seems about right.

If one follows Slotbloom's shortstack strategy (~25BB buyin, try to get most of your stack in preflop with a favorite hand), does anyone have a sense of how many minimum buyins are needed to have a low chance of going busto?

Re: Bankroll of shortstacking?

i did a lot of FR 20BB shortstacking to build my bankroll on party and i used a very conservative 50 buy in BRM. I got that advice from some1 who played SSS on 10/20.
10-15 stacks down is normal as ur constantly getting 60-40s and stuff (or less in multiwaypots)

Just out of curiosity, what was your BB/100 at the various PLO levels? (PLO100,200, etc)

Did you find it easier to implement SSS at the higher limits where there is more raising preflop? (there is, right?)

Re: Bankroll of shortstacking?

with bankrollbuilding i ment getting enough to start playin PLO25/20 fullstack so i cant really talk about the levels ur playin.
at plo25 i had like 8PTBB on PLO50 9,5 and then i started PLO100 with 1000$ having a huge downer of 14 stacks, which really sucked because as u said ppl got more aggressive at PLO100, which was good for me but unfortunately they kept sucking out (if u can call losing 60-40 or 65-35 "sucking out", but anyway)
so yeah there was more raising, but also ppl know slotboom at these levels so they kinda know what u want them to do.
so u wont get raised when u limped in as much and they know that ull check raise a lot.
at PLO100 i prefered to sit like 2 or 3 seats left of the maniac so i could reraise him all in after a caller, while sitting right and limping would often cuz the pot to go unraised to the flop.

Re: Bankroll for shortstacking?

I usually start playing with 40 BB and have had many 1000 - 1500 BB downswings. I play levels PLO400-PLO1000 6max. My ptBB/100 is around 3. VP%IP = 32, PFR =17.

asking a question about the proper way to shortstack should result in an insta-ban...

Re: Bankroll for shortstacking?

standard deviation for shortstackers is low, but winrate is too, so bankroll requirements turn out to be pretty similar to full-stackers. also, ban.

merge with the threads asking "bankroll for cap games"

Re: Bankroll for shortstacking?

It should also be noted that since most players short-stacking aren't winners, bankroll questions are often immaterial since they assume a positive expectation.
