Re: What club do you use from 50-75 yard range?

Simple, whatever club will get me closest to the hole. That may be some sort of wedge, an 8-iron, and on rare occasion the putter. Every shot is different and there are a myriad of ways to play each.

By the way, hitting a wedge a long way means zilch. It's all about controlling the distance. Under normal conditions you won't see a tour player try to hit a PW for example any farther than 130 although some can fly it close to 150 if they want to.

I use the Lob Wedge, Sand Wedge or Pitching Wedge based on how far out I am. I always use a 1/2 swing (the backswing goes to straight back away from me, parallel to the ground).

If I want a distance -- say between the distance my p. wedge goes and the s. wedge goes, then I would choke up on the p.wedge and use the exact same swing. This will cause the shaft to be less long and thus slow down the club head. I can do this and not change the swing at all. Thus the swing is more easily repeated.

Depends on the shot:

54 degree if:
-Pin is center or back
-Into the wind
-Green is soft
-Green sloped severely back to front, or if I want to skip it up a tier

60 degree if:
-Pin is up front
-Downwind
-Green is firm
-Need to fly to top of tier
-Need more spin for any reason

Im using a 60 from 75, but at 50 yds and the hole is below me, then I might consider keeping the ball low and running it up toward the pin. (not a popular option Im sure, but that shot is better for me)

i would say get the same brand type 60lob-56sand-52ish gap
thus you have your

60-70 with lob
70-80 with sand
80-95 with gap

if they are all the same club just different lofts it takes the mental aspect out of miss hitting

I disagree with this. Each of my wedges is there for a different purpose, accordingly they each have different weight, loft, bounce, etc. This isn't to say that there aren't many manufacturers who make a wide array of fine clubs. If you want a consistent look you can surely get it, but at least for me, my sand wedge isn't just a lower lofted version of my lob wedge.

To answer the OP question, I use my sand wedge for every shot inside 120 yards unless I specifically need another club for some reason (lob wedge to pitch it over a bunker, pitching wedge to hit it under a branch, etc).
