Tell The Truth About Your Hand

I’ve been hearing a lot about the “tell the truth about your hand and get a penalty, so you better be lying about it” rule in tournaments.

I was wondering if an opponent starts talking about his hand can you ask the dealer or floor person to verify that he was lying and not in fact telling the truth if he doesn’t show down the cards. If so does anyone know of any procedure or how it has went down in the past?

What venues, circuit events, or tournament series are using this rule? Or who isn’t?

Any links or more information regarding this rule is greatly appreciated!

Thanks,
Paul

if you say "i have Pocket Aces you should fold" and he calls, and you show your pocket aces, you can receive a penalty theoretically in most tournaments

if the guy folds, he folds, and you never have to s how

It ain't dumb - prevents collusion.

Yes, but if everything must be lie, then by simple logic, the opposite of what is said must be the truth, which renders such a rule meaningless.

I understand that they don't want people colluding, but it takes away the deception in the game.

You can't talk about your hand or anybody else's hand during play in a tournament. You will get a warning and then a time penalty.

It's rule #34 in the TDA rulebook.

How did Jamie Gold get away with it so many times? He even exposed a card if I remember correctly.
