Las Vegas Democratic Debate

Right now on CNN, they are hosting a Democratic debate (or as Dan Rather would call it, "joint appearance"). A funny moment just happened. After Chris Dodd answered a question, Wolf Blitzer called on John Roberts for the next question. Upset at not being called on to answer, Kucinich said, "hello, hello, hello." He was assured that he would eventually be able to talk.

Re: Las Vegas Democratic Debate

The beginning of the debate was chippy and I suppose interesting if you're into bickering.

The rest has been pretty boring, vapid, and predictable. Blitzer keeps demanding 1 word answers to stupid questions like "human rights or security, need a one word answer; you have 5 seconds...go!"

yay American media

This debate could really use Mike Gravel calling out Hillary and Obama.

That was a stupid question considering the strict time considerations. Any thoughtful person would need a few minutes to give an answer. Obviously everyone is going to say they are for both, but in those instances were they may come into some conflict, tough decisions need to be made. That question would be much better in a sit-down interview format.

I'm so glad they're spending the entire debate focusing on the issues at hand and not Hillary's gender again. Oh wait...

I thought Obama and Hillary were going to start slap-fighting when they were talking about raising the cap on the social security tax.

BTW, Obama nailed her.

(figuratively speaking)

Supposed to end at 10, I have no idea now. I still say Biden owned this debate.

Re: Las Vegas Democratic Debate

Also, Kucinich got the quote of the debate so far when he was called on regarding voting against the Patriot Act.

Blitzer: "Mr. Kucinich, you are the only one on this stage that voted against the Patriot Act after 9/11..."

Kucinich: "That's because I read it."

Re: Las Vegas Democratic Debate

Kucinich won. They were all talking about privacy, yet all except Kucinich and Richardson voted for the Patriot Act and/or to renew the Patriot Act. 4 of them voted for the Iraq war and now have flip flopped. They're all frauds.

So far, I agree. To be honest, if I didn't know a lot of their TRUE position, I could pick 4 or 5 that I think did really well up til now in the debate.

Thank God I keep up.

Biden is a funny dude, in any case. I think he's starting to be more like himself on the stage, instead of uptight/politician type, you know? Obviously its for political reasons, but nevertheless, he's had some good lines.

Biden, Dodd and Richardson are all starting to act like this. Why not? They're collectively polling at what...6%?

Uhh, I don't know, I didn't find Dodd or Richardson funny at all...I didn't get any of Richardson's jokes either. And why did Hillary say she was wearing asbestos? What was that about.

Anybody who watched this to find out who of these ignorant fools your going vote for is just plain stupid.

I can't imagine anybody watching that debate actually taking them seriously.

Man, none of them answered a damn question.

The Intelligence factor between Democrats and Republicans is so staggeringly different.

At least between the Candidates.

LOL at all those planted audience questions too.

What a big joke the Democratic Party has turned into

Obama had such a good debate last night and it's showing with the success of his money bomb today. Look at that themometer fill up! The goal is $5 million in 24 hours. Only $4,995,920 to go! LOL! Obama is a joke.

Yep, they might as well change the thermometer to $100,000 because that might be all they get! It still says $5 million in 24 hours on the Barack Friday logo. I think Mike Huckabee has raised more than $4,000 online today! It's just sad really.

Hilarity. It's like they looked at Paul and went..."Well if THAT guy can do it.." What they don't realize is that it's not because of Paul at all.

Exactly Tom. They said in this blog that Ron Paul supporters were inspired by Obama's internet prowless and that if crazy people could do it for Paul, Obama people could do it for him. So far to the tune of a whopping $4,000!

As usual, they were asking stupid quesitons to Hillary, one woman asked (and the "likes" are just my interpretation of her intelligence)

"So, like Hillary, which do you like, like more; pearls or diamonds?"

Hillary: Well, I know people say I can't make a decision on anything...But I LIKE THEM BOTH

Biden (out of no where) : I LIKE DIAMONDS.

It was awesome. Him making fun of how stupid a question that was. Priceless.

The first half hour was the most hilarious thing I have ever seen.

Nobody answered a single question.

That first question that went to Hillary. Man, total dodge, mentioned her pants suit, it is a joke and they are exposing how dumb America has become in this day and age.

TomVeil 11-16-2007 06:08 PM

Re: Las Vegas Democratic Debate

Yeah, I don't understand why the debates are always so awful. When you watch longer speeches and Q&A sessions (where the candidates actually have time to answer), you know that they HAVE answers. It's like they are programmed to use the first 30 seconds after every question to NOT answer the question before they get to it. And by then, the "time" is up so nobody can answer anything.

I'm now pointing people to videos on You Tube and the like for information. (The @Google clips are great. An HOUR of questions, answers, and ideas! OMFG) It's becoming increasingly obvious to me that the traditional media sources are a dismal failure.
