Subtleties of snow

With rain there are varying words to describe how it's falling: drizzle, downpour, mist, etc. what are the corresponding levels of snowfall. Flurry, blizzard, ???.

Also, what is your favorite type of snow?
Personally mine is loose powder, because I enjoy skiing, but i could see how wet, easily packable snow could be a lot of peoples favorite.

Some languages have dozens of words for "snow." Also, Smilla's Sense of Snow was pretty cool. The book, never did see the movie...
