Got in last night, staying at the Grand Waldo for the duration.

I think we should aim for a meet up dinner before the players party on the 22nd, then head over to that together. Can people please post if they'll be coming so i know how many to book for?

Just arrived in Hong Kong, staying here for one night. Great view of the Harbor from our hotel room.

Likely in for dinner meetup, wife coming as well. Will definitely be at the welcome party.

Maybe a dumb question, but all of the side tournament buyins being listed in usd has me wondering - will all those transactions (sit and go buyins, sydney satellites etc) actually be in hong kong or macau currency? It just seems weird that instead of $200 it'll be 1530.5 HKD, or whatever. Have already changed some $ for HKD but don't want to change the rest unless I'm sure we won't be able to use US $.

just arrived in hong kong too.

put me (JP) and my girlfriend (kristel) down for dinner also.

at appt manila all the tournament buyins were in USD. also macau and hong kong dollers are pretty much worth the same.

stayin at the venetian, since the waldo is full.

All buy-ins will actually be in HKD-value casino chips. Players with USD will need to exchange their USD at the casino's cashier desk and purchase HKD-value chips. The chips will then be used for the actual event registrations.

hey guys I am coming in tomorrow,

This is my first major tournament so it should be a lot of fun and I should be a big donkey. I am not sure how to get money though? Is anyone willing to do a PokerStars for USD swap? I'd probably need about $10-$20K depending on what games are running and how well I do.

I just found out about this a few hours ago so I am throwing everything toegether at the last momment but I am in Asia already.

The tournament is very likely going to lock out, so if you haven't got a seat better call ahead and see what you can do. The 15k won't lock out. At this point, there will be no cash games (but if you ask me, i just might be able to find you something.) But ya know, i haven't hard about any cash games...or anything.

Hey,

I called and got a seat (he said there were 10 left about 3 hrs ago). The guy I talked to to reserve my seat said there will be computer cash games up to $4K USD buy in. There won't be a dealer, it will be like PokerStars or whatever except you can see all your opponents. Sounds sorta meh, but we will see how it goes. Looking forward to this. Is there a spot where all the 2+2ers are meeting or anything?

Hey guys I'm in JFK airport right now on my way to Hong Kong, should get there Thursday night around 7 I think? I planned this trip last minute and couldn't get more than $10k from my bank so if anyone could help me out with cash I'd really really appreciate it, I'm trying to play both the 2500 and 15000 as well as the biggest side games if they are running.

Guys,

The buffet in the Grand Waldo is really quite good. I'm thinking since many will have just got off a long flight they won't want to wait a long time for food or have to worry about going to a restaurant where there's nothing on the menu that suits them, so let's plan to meet there.

The buffet is on the 1st floor of the Grando Waldo, meet there at 7:30pm, look for the young guy in the suit.

I got in last night as well. I was able to catch the 7:10 ferry even though my flight landed at 5:45. BTW, business class is the only way to go. Kept my sanity by upgrading for sure.

I will be there tonight. I'll be the one in a MN Twins hat.

In, this 15k fields is going to be [censored] stupid, its my guess is its going to be like 30 runners, and 22-25 are from North America, and 12-15 of them are +EV in the 200r

Yea field looks [censored] right now, but keep in mind most recreational players won't book in advance. I know the organizers pretty well so i'll keep in close contact to see what we can expect in terms of recreational donks.

ah i'm out.

got up to 14k first 2 levels with no cards. then my no cards continued and i bled down to 8k with failed cont bets. then my no cards continued, couple of shoves over limpers. finally reshove tt over an mp raise called by qq and out. blah goddam live poker.

good to meet you guys there. might be playing the $500 tomorrow, we'll see how my gf feels about the idea. [img]/images/graemlins/laugh.gif[/img]

Out in level 5 here. I ran into sets 4 times where I held at least top pair. Amazing I lasted as long as I did considering what happened.

yeah am also having problems with cash. The venetian has taken a $2k deposit for incidentals which i'm not gonna get back for a couple of days. if anyone can trade like $1k cash for $1k stars it would be really appriciated. pm me.

god busted 10 minutes before the day ended.

had a big stack going into level 9 then all of a sudden KK < A3o for a big pot, QQ < KQo for a big pot, 8h8x < AsTs bets going in pre and on Qh7h2h flop, finally QT < KQ

live poker is so rigged
