3/6: river c/r bluff

Villian is 17/8, with a slightly above average cold call preflop percentage. He seems to float me a bit more than he should, but I really haven't played anything big against him.

I've been playing aggro preflop at this table, something like 20/16 or so.

this move is above me i think. like i usually just c/f this turn, sometimes i throw in a 2nd barrel, and i never make this c/r move cause imo it doesnt look like a king (i think i just value bet here almost always). but im interested in hearing the results of this hand

Your river play looks like a bluff.

You might get him to fold ace high, but nothing else.

Re: 3/6: river c/r bluff

I don't get it. Isn't K-x a huge part of his range?

This seems like suicide to me.

Re: 3/6: river c/r bluff

bad imo

I cant see what flats two streets and bets the river besides Kx, 6x and 45 (which is a really small part of his range imo). Pretty sure he has like Kx like always here

Re: 3/6: river c/r bluff

bad, he is not value beting with 99s on river

Re: 3/6: river c/r bluff

a bit surprised at the comments, and fwiw i do sometimes play the boat just like this because it looks very "bluffy"

to me, his two calls look like 99-QQ. these are hands that i feel he will value bet the river against me because i'm often so aggro (i.e. double barreling, etc...) and as such I have to make some light river calls.

additionally, i feel like Kx is a small part of his range. AK/KQ he probably reraises pf or flop or turn. I'd assume he's not cold calling KJ preflop too often.

It's close but I usually just give it up. On a good day I can do this at the right time.

I actually like this, and villain fold enough to make this profitable.

He's really going to bet a mid-pair hoping you call him with ace-high?

Why would he raise them on the flop/turn? He's way ahead/way behind, and since you're so aggressive in firing multiple barrels, why WOULDN'T he just call down?

Your thinking is way off IMO.

Re: 3/6: river c/r bluff

Level?

This is absolutely heinous. Work on your hand reading skills. His range is pretty purely Kings full. I really can't think of much else that reasonably takes this line.

If he has QQ-99, he should be content to check it down unless you're known to be a clueless station at your table.

Re: 3/6: river c/r bluff

which real hand would you bet twice and c/r on this board? i can't think of one.

just read that you'd play a fh like this, which might be ok cause i can't see anyone folding on the river. using this line as a bluff looks atrocious to me.

guaranteedBluff 12-01-2007 01:14 PM

Re: 3/6: river c/r bluff

ok. i stand corrected, bad play by me.

i guess he was just calling quickly on flop and turn and it really felt like he didn't have a King.

results: he folded. yes, i know that these results don't matter.

Re: 3/6: river c/r bluff

Yeah, pretty sure you had the best hand. If you think he's floating, why are you shoving? He's never getting to the river and VBing with a worse hand here.

Re: 3/6: river c/r bluff

Calling the river would have been so sexy. Phresh is right, your hand was probably good. He probably called off 2 streets thinking his deuces were good, then was like, crap, now I have the nut low, I better bet.

1010 or something probably checks behind the river.

Note, calling river, like checkraising is retarded, but if you called and won w/ 5 high, that would have been awesome.

I think it looks enough like a king that he folds everything else, but I think he checks the river with most non-king hands. Anything like a mid pocket pair he checks behind. Maybe he bets a 6 but I don't expect him to show up with one very often and then there is a chance he calls with it.

90% of FR players don't bet those hands on the river. Generally, you'll have no bet to check/raise and your 5 high will lose at showdown.

Re: 3/6: river c/r bluff

Just firing again on the river more accuratly reps a K, then a river c/r here.

You said it yourself you expect him to call w/ 6x and higher pairs to a 3/4pot bet. SO why if you had a K, would you be c/r'ing here?
