the Acai berry/Monavie

for now i am filing this under the "miracle cure" beverage of the season, but i wanted some input if anyone had any experience with it (directly or indirectly)

http://www.monavie.com/_/controller.html

the mrs. is a marathon runner and some of her
LSD (long slow distance) friends turned her onto this stuff.

i have been taking it at her insistence.
(those of you who are married will understand)

it is also part of some Multi level marketing scheme, but i could care less about that.

does it work? too early for me to tell, but i have been being told tales of curing all sorts of joint issues and chronic pain and it is a "superfood", i just wonder if it is this year's coral calcium or whatever.

check it out. let me know what you think or if you have any experience with it or know anything.

thanks in advance. J.

btw it tastes ok and is suppossed to make you poop.

its all a huge pyramid scheme.

i'm sure the juice itself is good. Acai is one of the new hip ingredients. Vitamin water has a new flavor called XXX which is acai blueberry pomegranate which actually tastes really good.

i tried to read some of the literature on acai, doesn't seem to have too many vitamins, has some amino acids, nothing too mindlowing though.

even the way it is packaged seems a bit ridiculous.

ps- "she got turned onto it by some of her friends". yeah probably cause they're a few grand deep in this scheme and looking to put someone under them on the pyramid.

i won't hold my breath.

thanks for the input and whatnot. it is tasting less appealing all the time, btw.

later. J.

The acai berry is known to have the following properties:

It is an antioxidant, anti-carcinogenic, anti-mutagenic, anti-inflammatory, and can strengthen and protect the cardiovascular system.

It has:

* A protein profile similar to a egg.

* A fatty-acid profile similar to olive oil.

* More than 16 phytonutrients and antioxidants.

* Anthocyanins-often reported as 33times that of the protective potential of

red wine and grapes. One of the many attributes of anthocyanins is their

anti-inflammatory qualities. are found in the plant pigment that gives the

berries their dark color.

* Dietary fiber, which is excellent for digestive tract health.

* A low gycemic index.

* Phytosterls, which are used to treat symptoms associated with enlarged

prostate.

* Phtosterols that also help promote a healthy cardiovascular system.

* Large amounts of essential fatty acids and omegas (linoleic acid and oleic

acid),porven to lower LDL and maintain HDL cholesterol levels.

* An almost perfect essential aminoacid complex. This is vital for proper

muscle contraction and regeneration, endurance, strength, sustained

energy and muscle development.

* Plant sterols, particularly beta-sitosterol, which is associated with

cholesterol-lowing abilities.

* large amounts of vitamins A, B1, B2, B3, C and E.

* Minerals such as calcium, potassium, phosphorus and a wealth of micronutrients.

lol, The stuff is pretty good, although I really can't tell you the benefits of it since I have a non-active lifestyle.

Bottles are ~$40 each. (Each bottle has like 32oz.)
