retardo question: black or green chips for 100/200?

In small stakes, there's a principle (a slightly stupid one if you ask me), that two chip games (10/20) tend to be tighter and not as soft as their three or four chip alternatives (15/30 and 20/40). Based on this principle, one chip games should be even worse, so the question: is 100/200 live a one (black) chip game, or is it a four (green) chip game?

Interesting that you mention it.
I dk if 100-200 is a 1 chip game but I know of something called the "physical size of the pot". A visually big pot contributes to looser play.

One of the loosest games I've heard of (it's know for its looseness) is the pink chip game at AC. It's a 7.50/15 game played with pink $2.5 chips.

Doesn't it have to be a green chip game so the small blind can be posted?

You've obviously never been in the 5/10 game where people play with red chips so the dealer has to constantly make change when the sb folds.

Sorry to bring this insultingly low limit point up but it's as high as they spread sometimes here and it is ridiculously frustrating for a variety of reasons.

i'm not so sure that the more chips = more action concept applies in bigger games. the few times i've watched 500/1000 games live, the chips go in so fast it's like people aren't thinking at all before they raise again. the action in those games always seems crazier than in a 400/800 or 600/1200 game.

this is correct, when trying to kick a game up, theres always some nit who thinks there will be more action if we leave it at 4/8, once we color up, they are proven wrong, the pots look smaller, but its just so easy to raise in 5/10, the game moves a lot faster too, this is not the case in 6/12 or 8/16 however, i think the game gets considerably tighter when you start using multiple chip denominations

although from what i understand, in draw games, there is generally more action in the 4/8 structure, for holdem, 5/10 is better for sure as it is somewhat similer to playing online

i think it also may depend on who is playing, if its mostly regulars, they arer all animals and the fastest structure works best and there will be more aggressive action, with more amateur players, you may get more loose action out of the 4/8 structure

IMHO the smaller the chip structure the better.
