5NL >>> Bad bluff???

I recently started playing on Poker Stars, because at my previous online pokerrooms there weren't so many tables at the stakes I eventually want to play (I played 10NL and some 20NL, but at 20NL there aren't many games and higher even worse). I deposit a small amount so I started off with 5NL to built it gradually. Now is this a bad bluff because it is not convincing or is it a bad bluff because I first should know my opponent better before considering it (e.g. is he weak tight enough). Villain was pretty loose preflop, but I haven't tagged as a callingstation.

Poker Stars
No Limit Holdem Ring game
Blinds: $0.02/$0.05
6 players
Converter

Stack sizes:
UTG: $5.99
UTG+1: $5.93
Hero: $7.65
Button: $1.11
SB: $10.90
BB: $9.07

Pre-flop: (6 players) Hero is CO with Q[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] J[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]
UTG folds, UTG+1 calls, Hero calls, 2 folds, 2 folds, BB checks.

Flop: 4[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] 2[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] 9[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] ($0.17, 3 players)
BB bets $0.15, UTG+1 folds, Hero calls.

Hero calls because he has two overcards and wants to bluff if a scare cards comes off. If the action comes to bold hero will fold.

Turn: 3[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] ($0.47, 2 players)
BB bets $0.1, Hero calls.

Hero thinks his opponent has a nine almost for sure with a weak kicker, he is getting odds for a flush or straightdraw bluff + any Q or J is very probably good.

River: 6[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] ($0.67, 2 players)
BB bets $0.15, Hero raises to $0.7, BB calls.

Hero thinks a valuelookalike bet of 0,55 will do the job, but it doesn't....

Results:
Final pot: $2.07
BB showed Ts 9s
Hero showed Qd Jd

Re: 5NL >>> Bad bluff???

You can raise that preflop from LP. Alot of times you'll get take the pot down right there or with a c-bet.

As played fold, fold, fold. The sooner you stop calling bets with missed over cards and no decent draws, the better your bankroll will feel.

As far as the bluff, your playing in limped pot against the Big blind. He literally could have any two cards. If he just has top pair or better pretty much nothing short of a shove is going to get him to fold and that's probably less than half the time. They are paying attention to what they have and a lot of the times don't see the flush hit or the straight. In short its hard to bluff bad hand readers, and most people at NL5 are bad hand readers.

QFT

Although one exception might be if you know villain min-bets with TP, and then you might call the $.04 bet as you get nice odds to chase.

raise PF, fold flop, theres no point in bluffing people at 5nl cause there going to call w/ anything and you don't beat anything

I think just from the outcome of the hand you can answer your question. You read him for the hand he had exactly and he didn't fold, so what's the lesson?

Yeah your right he is a calling station probably >>> don't bluff but valuebet; I made a note. FWIW I wouldn't be calling with overs if it weren't for the bluffpossibility I saw.

I haven't read the body of this thread, I just noticed the title:

yes, it's a bad bluff if performed at 5NL
