Online Banking improvements

I'm trying to find out what is the right direction I need to go in for this business plan. I'm interested in making a program that runs online through the banks online statements. The program will categorize each purchase so that you can keep track of your budget very easily.

For example, if you bought 150$ worth of gas, it would have a gas budget and show how much you spent for the month. You could also set a number of what your goal is in each category and see how well you keep true to it.

Some other categories would be:

Food
Entertainment
Bills
Savings
Gas

I would like the program to run off the banks website so no downloading is required. I feel if the program actually worked, it would be a big selling point for new customers that there is a software that helps with budgeting.

So back to my question, what is the right direction for this plan. I have zero experience programming so I would have to hire someone from who knows where. I'd also need to show how the software would work with the website.

Probably to build a time machine and go back and stop yourself from making this post on a public forum.

Sorry, but I think any serious idea shouldn't be discussed especially with strangers on a business forum.

However in any case, there's nothing stopping the banks from implementing your ideas themselves once they know of the product you are offering.

you would sell it to the banks? or to customers? I'm not familiar w/ their products, but I always assumed this was one of the things you could use Quicken or Microsoft Money for. And you can connect it directly to your bank account at most major branchs.

Quicken already does something like this, although it must be downloaded.

If you do a search for personal budgeting software it is a very competitive area.

If your product is good, what is to stop a larger company from taking the idea/format and using their resources/budget to out market you.

One purpose of this forum is to discuss ideas...

Yes, but one should be selective with the ideas that one wishes to discuss. He seems to want to persue this idea seriously. If so, the disadvantages heavily outweigh the advantages of posting it in the forum.

I suppose they could use their own software, but I figured it would be easier for them to buy my sripts.
