Need help with this hand.

Long time reader, first time poster. I was wondering if it was worth me making this play regardless of how good my read was on my opponent.

Last night in PS $11.

I'm dealt 8s7s on button.
Villian has min raised with such hands as QJ K10 KJ etc... all night.

Villian min raises to 800. I call
Flop is Jc 9c 6h.

Villian bets 1000 and I call putting him on the clubs and planning that if the turn is a blank I will push and he'll fold. ( Both stacks are 9500)

Turn 2d

Villian bets 1000 I push over the top. He thinks for a while and calls.

River is a blank and he wins the hand with Q high. (he had q10 clubs)
I wanted to see if I played this hand poorly or not. I went with my read and found what I thought was a good spot to pick up a lot of chips and make a run. Any feedback is greatly greatly appreciated. Thanks

Well, I doubt he's folding an open ended straight flush draw for his stack. It's a tough spot. I like to pick up chips in spots where there won't be much of a fight for them - when I have air.

Given what he was minraising with, I'm not sure how you were so confident about your flush draw read (even if you ended up being right about it). But regardless, I like the check-raise all-in over his weak flop bet. Why wait till the turn where he'll have more $ committed and better odds? You have an OESD so you have at least six reliable outs (the non-club Ts and 5s) and potentially four more outs if you're against unpaired overcards.

Pushing the flop gives you the maximum folding equity and even if he calls you still have an solid chance to hit.

We have the bad side of an OESD, no flush draw, but a good read. The part of your read that you could be overlooking is whether or not the villain can lay down a hand. Play looks like a good one against a tighter opponent on the same range. Villain w/ OESFD isn't folding here with this much money in the pot. Unfortunate holdings for you here, but stick with it.

With M~15 fold>push>>>>>>>call

What baffles me about your play is you knew that villain was playing any two broadway and you called hoping to flop a miracle. Just fold or PUSH

You didn't need to pick a fight with your stack size. Wait for a good hand and then stack villain.

The only way to win hand with 78 was to push preflop. 78 does not want to see a flop.

What did the SB/BB do?

Good read on villains range.

Don't post results...

if you know his hand is between 10-k and nothing else repop him PF bet Ace high boards bet low boards stay away from anything with 2 broadway cards.
