Matt,

Can you comment on the idea of putting in 1/3 of our stack in this thread?

It seems like if we put in the money when our equity is good on the flop by 3 betting that we are committing ourselves to a hand that may have drastically less equity on the turn.

By committing 1/3 of our stack are we then able to "uncommit" on the turn if we brick?

SPR and Postflop Betting Lines in PNL happens to address this exact situation. (Don't remember the chapter title offhand but it's almost at the end of the SPR section.)

4xpot shove isn't unreasonable. If you do that and they often call you might do the same with a set or straight there, but that's beside the point.

Critical point is don't leave a pot-sized bet behind for the turn unless you know you're going to be the one putting it in, and you will have fold equity.

If we have a combodraw that has over 50% equity against villain's range, isn't it best to get a lot of money in on flop, even if we left a pot-sized bet behind? The rational behind this thinking is that he is committed and if we hit the turn, he will stack off. Theoretically, if turn was a blank and we shoved without folding equity, we would make the same money as in the case we went all in on flop, right? Here we could have a chance for an improvement, especially in position where we could check behind and make more money.

if you have a combo draw with over 50% equity against villain's ALL-IN range, then you want the money in and might as well push flop.
